Well when a team with our lack of depth is hit by injuries like we were last year, it'd be unrealistic to expect more than a modest playoff push near the end of the season.
That being said, it's not that we weren't bad or anything. Can't help but be hopeful for next season, though.
Vokoun most definitely deserves the credit in this situation. There's no way around it, our defense was horrible last season, partly due to injuries, but nonetheless just plain terrible. This season, there should be a HUGE difference in shots against and goals against. With the addition of Ballard and Boynton, there's no way in hell we should be allowing 30+ shots/game. That is absolutely ridiculous.

Haha, not quite. The first shot he faced went passed him.
But since three games after the start? HELL YEAH!
yeah, I forgot about that first shot that went in.
What I meant is that he has been great for our team since joining the organization and has really cemented our goalie position. I like the way he and Anderson pushed eachother as the season went along to be better. With the added defense I really see Vokoun getting more wins and IMO more shutouts then he had last year. My thinking is he won't see as many quality shots as he did last season because of our defense.
Definitely. He's been a character guy since we acquired him. Looking back, it's nice that we could've taken his words over that summer completely to heart. He really showed up for this team and backed up what he said.
Yeah, there were games where he made mistakes. Quite a few of them, actually. But he's just been great for us.
