The Sens just signed Vermette, now they're going to trade him? Right...

Eklund is terrible for these things.

Not to mention there's just a tiny difference between Steve Staios and Dan Hamhuis.

Buffalo didn't want to give McKee 4 million 2 years ago, they wanna give it to him now after he hasn't EARNED that money after getting injured?

The only time that eklund has been right is when the story has already been confirmed/covered through tsn/sportsnet or another site.

Lets discuss the rumors as opposed to our opinions of Eklund.

Yesterday Eklund had Parrish to LI,despite the nyi being set at rw with Guerin,Okposo and Hunter on rw.

Now today it's Smolinski to LI.Nevermind that Smolinski played like a dog in his last yr on LI.

I guess if a player is an ex-isle and available,he'll report the nyi interested?

Not to argue the validity of the rumors but Hamhuis is not an offensive defenseman he is 2 way but like Mattias Ohlund more Defensive then Offensive not to say he can't put up offensive totals he is more a Defensive defenseman than offensive. As for the first Staios for Vermette Tambellini must be dousing Murray's Coffee/Water with some good LSD.

It helps if you read the full article

"* As always trade rumours are often NOT COMPLETE. A few names may leak, while others don't. Do NOT assume that the trade will be EXACTLY as rumoured.."

Obviously Staios for Vermette is not the full deal, but the starting point of negotiations... Edmonton will certainly have to sweeten the pot with something else.

If you think Hamhuis is an offensive defenseman, you don't watch the Preds all that much. Weber is an OFD, but Hamhuis is far from it. Hamhuis is, however, the Predators' #1 defenseman and probably the team's eventual captain. He plays in all situations and had a great season despite having to cover for Greg De Vries on a nightly basis.

The Predators don't trade Hamhuis unless Meszaros or Volchenkov goes the other way, and Poile may still not do it depending on the other pieces involved because this organization LOVES Hamhuis. I know Vermette + Meszaros/Volchenkov is an overpayment for Hamhuis but you would have to give up that much to pry him away, at which point you have to ask yourself if you're THAT set on picking him up.

As for replacing Radulov, that's what Hörnqvist is for.

Why would the Oilers want another forward? Plus, there is a lot of difference between Staois and Hamhuis.

I would LOVE the Vermette for Hamhuis deal. Staois? HELL NO!

Disgusting if that happens. I know they let go of Briere and Drury, but Buffalo isn't that stupid.
