It was 15 10 for upper level, 25 for lower level.

What's wrong with 1223? I haven't been in years, but it used to be hot.

Tacky, pretentious-but-can't-back-it-up, no interesting music....just bad.

18th st lounge is owned by the Thievery Corporation, so they get cutting edge DJs on the regular.

I saw Ovechkin getting down at Play lounge a couple months ago...that's pretty much the only reason I mentioned it.

individual tix?

Hey guys, I know this is a bit premature; however, I am coming down to DC to see the B's play the Caps on Jan 17th and I was just wondering when individual tix go on sale or when you expect them to? Thanks guys!

My husband called the other day about tix and was told that individual game tix won't go on sale until the 3rd week of September.

Bars/Restaurants near the Verizon Center

Hey Caps fans, what are the suggested pre/post game hangouts within walking distance of the arena? I am looking for a good spot to have a decent pre-game meal in a casual setting, hopefully with lots of people wearing hockey jerseys.
I will be in town for a Devils @ Caps games this coming season.
Thank you for your feedback.

there's a restaurant in the ground level of the red roof in at 5th and H (I think that's the address). The food is nothing special, but they usually have drink deals and it's never too crowded, unlike like RFD which is a mob scene.

Rocketbar is a good place to grab a drink or play pool/darts. They do not serve food. It's a basement bar on 7th between G and H, on the west side.

The Green Turtle is a sports bar that serves pretty good food (and drinks, obviously). It's at 6th and F.

Of course there are a myriad of upscale places too. Zengo, Indebleu, Zaytinya (my personal favorite), Asia 9, Rosa Mexicano and Jaleo are all good choices.

Its pretty much impossible to not find a decent restaurant near the Verizon center. The place is surrounded by bars/restaurants.

There's a really good Thai place less than a block away, but I can't for the life of me remember the name.

There's a Fuddrucker's right there, too, if you're into that sort of thing.

I'm a La Tasca guy myself. Me and my girl put down two pitchers of Sangria either before of after a game. Mmmm...Sangria.

I'm with you on Zaytinya. A block north is Oya, which is also delicious.

I've also always been a fan of Matchbox. Good pizza and great sliders.

Tony Cheng's (upstairs) is a good, safe, Chinese restaurant.

McCormick and Schmick's is the best seafood in the area, IMO.

I like to work Clydes for the appetizers and strong ass mixed drinks. I saw OV's dad there too one time.

Clydes, Irish Channel (5th/H), and Capital City Brewery (11th/H) is where I usually hang out at. All have great food. Although, like someone else already said, its hard not to find something good anywhere you go.

The area is just loaded with options, from basic American fare to upscale ethnic, high-end steakhouses, to cheap fast food options all over the place. The arena is in Chinatown, but Chinatown itself has shrunk, and Chinese is just one of the many options in the area.

For a quick bite, a good hole in the wall option is Capital Q, a Texas barbecue joint. Really, though, Verizon Center has got to be one of the NHL's best options in terms of eating out, within walking distance from the arena. You might want to give some idea of the type of food and how upscale you want to go, to get useful feedback.

Too bad the food inside is so terrible. VC management should put together service deals with the area restaurants the way they do at the Nationals stadium.

Granted, it's not always an option for those who live far out in the 'burbs, but eating inside is never the way to go, especially with so many eating and drinking options outside. Then again, I commute in from Crystal City from work... 10 minutes on the Yellow line, so there's lots of time before game time. Shrug.

Raises a good point, though. Whatever you do, try to get there early enough to eat outside the arena. The food inside is nothing to write home about, that's for sure.

I agree you should get there early.

Check out the portrait gallery or spy museum if you have time! Chinatown is one of DC's most vibrant neighborhoods--it's worth spending some time just strolling around if you're coming from out of town.

Enjoy DC.

I thought the spy museum was really overrated.
