I'd like to think we could get a 2nd somewhere for White. A young, shifty, PP specialist, who can hold his own on the 2nd, or most preferably 3rd pairing.

This is about the type of deal that we'll be seeing if White gets moved unless he has a breakout year.

boring. boring, boring

might as well be trading a third for a third, and we would still get screwed on the deal.

I would not be surprised if something like this does happen for White as we are going to have to move at least one of our defensemen this season. I would expect a second for White though his size makes me wonder if anyone would want to pay that despite his excellent offensive game.

Throw in a 5th or a sixth rounder any old year just since the Devils will be a playoff team again and not a particularly high 3rd round pick, I do it.

The guy puts up like 20 something points ES, cheap @ 850k, and able to handle an NHL load. He's just small and doesn't fit a need.

I don't really see a need to move him, especially for a third rounder.. Which isn't really much.

Can't see the Devils wanting a guy like Ian White. I'd rather keep the 3rd in a very good draft anyway.

I'm not familiar with the NJD defenders, but I have a sense Ian White may be worth more than a 3rd round pick.

He is 24 with 169 NHL games and 145 AHL games under his belt, with only 1 pro-season with a minus, which was on the 2nd worst defensive team in hockey. He has put up decent but unspectacular numbers playing behind Mccabe, Kaberle, Kubina and Strahlman (this season), while being paired mostly with Hal Gill and being expected to take a defensive role, which he isn't really suited for, and playing almost 19 minutes per game.

Most importantly, why he has decent value is his contract. He makes $850 000 for 2 seasons and is then a RFA, which gives you minumum 3 seasons, 2 of which are at a minimal contract, and the third is most likely a mid-range of $2 000 000 at most.

I think there is an upside for White, but not in Toronto.

I'd like to see him traded as part of a package, with Antropov for a younger upgraded forward with first line potential in 1-2 years.

We already have a White.

How about 1 blur free eyeball for future considerations?
