Is that just us though? I do agree that most people here overrate most of our players, but I don't think that's exclusive to NYR fans. I live in DC, and people here are convinced Tomas Fleischmann will be a top-10 wing in the league for years to come. I know that my friends who are stupid enough to root for Philly fall into the same trap as well.

The problem is we have too much $ invested on the blueline as it is thanks for the overpayments of Redden and Roszival. We'd have a helluva time locking J-Bo up longterm.
Agree that we'd do a deal like that in a heartbeat.

As for the cash spent on the blue line... I'm fairly certain that if Rozsival had a decent or better season, that we could move him in the off season. He does make too much, IMO, but we paid him pretty much according to what the market dictated. If the cap goes up again and teams are throwing cash around left and right, I'm sure there would be lots of teams willing to take Rosie off our hands.

He'll be out of Florida by the trading deadline, and perhaps for not much of a haul.

The fact he wants out of South Florida is the worst kept secret in the NHL.

Bouwmeester for 2 months for that package? Seriously?
Post-lockout Sather didn't do such a deal, what makes you think it would happen now?

Theres no way we'd sign him without locking him up longterm even if that means clearing every possible cent we can and giving him a huge contract.

Working under the assumption he wouldnt just be a rental, Im assuming and hoping youd give up Dawes, Sanguinetti, and a first then?

i would do that....although i would then hope the rangers could grab a first rounder from someone else befroe the draft......maybe the rangers could give up rozsival instead of sanguinetti?.....and add sauer?

dawes
rozsival
sauer
1st 09

?

just because the frangers would have to clear some cap space

not that we really need him, though i wouldn't mind seeind him on our club....the thought of a bouwmeester-staal top pairing for the next 10 years is a nice one.

here's mine:

roszival, prucha and an 09 first

yea i know, every ranger proposal has to have prucha in it

To FLA: Squat

Good luck waiting. He'll never see the light of day.

Rozsival, Animisov, Prucha and a 1st or 2nd.

What are you talking about? Hes a UFA next summer. If he wants to be a Ranger he'll test the market.

I don't see how we could fit JBo if we even wanted to. if he signs as a UFA then we probably won't have the room to re-sign Staal.

The objective is to trade for him and sign him. Usually deals of this nature are made with a window to negotiate a contract. You are way too literal -- it's not if he wants to be a Ranger -- it's making anproactive deal and keeping him from ever becoming a free agent. He will never be a UFA -- someone will trade for him and sign him long before it gets to that point.

we are always top contenders to sign anyone because of our history, location, press coverage, etc. Trading him and then not being able to sign him is a terrible idea.

Even if we trade for Bouwmeester, how do we fit another massive contract under the cap?

Jaybo is going to want a Redden type salary, so we'd have 5 salaries at 6 mil+: Redden, Gomez, Hank, Drury and Jaybo, PLUS Rozsival assuming he wasn't moved.

Sorry, there's just not a prayer in the world that will make that happen unless you somehow move one of the existing large contracts.

Gomez: Flat out terrible idea.
Drury: NMC, and another bad idea.
Hank: You've failed at life if that thought even crossed your mind.
Redden: Possible I suppose, but a) You're signing and trading, which is just stupid and unethical, and b) You can bet Florida is on Redden's list of teams he wont accept a trade to.

Just saw a thread on the trade and rumor board saying that the Rangers migh be working on a deal with Florida featuring:

Jay-Bo and Dvorak

for

Cherepanov, Korpikoski, Prucha, 1st in 09, 2nd in 10

thoughts?

I am not doubting that, however wondering what fans think about it value wise.

Assuming Bouw signs an 8 year deal cap friendly contract upon coming to New York, and Dvorak is substituted with Frolik or Repik, the Rangers might listen.

It's more possible than most of you believe. The biggest problem is that the Rangers need to send salary (read Rozsival) back to Florida as part of the deal. Florida also needs more current day value than the above package. Michael isn't going to be very happy of this happens but it is certainly a possibility. Look at this from Florida's perspective -- trading JBo for a player of equal value is unlikely because of his contract circumstances. Getting a centerpiece who's a 75% value and then adding other pieces is probably the best possible outcome they can hope for. Rozy and 3-4 pieces is much, much better value than Atlanta got for Hossa at the trade deadline. He's signed for 4 years at a fair market rate and Rozy and JBo are a salary cap wash this year. Next year can be dealt with duiring the summer (bye bye Mara, Kalinin and others) The only guy I think is off the board as far as a trade goes is Cherepanov and Sanguinetti may be also depending on what management sees. If the Rangers are working on something big,. I'm betting on this deal.
