i voted for nash b/c he's had one season over 57 points and it was only 69. He has plenty of potential, and if e played wth some good linemates he would put up more, but for the moment he is somewhat overrated IMO.

I don't think he's overrated at all, considering the best center he's ever had was a past his prime Fedorov.

When Brassard gets a year or two under his belt, you'll see his numbers skyrocket, guaranteed.

Why, because he was taken second overall and hasn't won an MVP yet?

I can't think of one time I've seen someone overrate Staal, mainly because of his sophmore slump last season.

The OP has a personal grudge against Kopitar.

you are overrating him right now... people talk like staal is one of the games elite centers... even some retard on another flames board made a proposal where the flames would give up boyd, backlund, nemisz & a first rounder for staal... his rookie totals were a blip on the radar... his shooting percentage was something that was going to be impossible fro him to repeat... stall will be one of the better 2wat centers in te league in a few years yes... but he is only going to be good for 20ish goals a year

Whoever these peope are, I haven't met them. Not once have I heard one single person relate Lecavalier, Spezza, Thornton and Staal.

Have you ever heard of the saying "there's one born every minute"?

22.14, which he accomplished as a rookie. Granted, that's a pretty damn good shooting percentage, but guys like Petr Prucha and Mark Parrish have been among the league leaguers in that category. All it really means is that they don't take 400 shots every season like Ovechkin.

I'm sure you're going to say this is me overrating him, but how can you say he's only gonna be good for 20 goals a year? He scored 29 as an 18 year old. Are you saying his career upside is tapped out after only his second NHL season?

Seems to me that you're underrating him a bit.

Brad Richards and then Phaneuf.

Shooting percentage is a marker of sustainability. In the past, a player with a high shooting percentage one year has shown more susceptible to slumps or a sharp decline in production the next. Staal is one such example.

Trust me, us Oiler fans have done the research here when looking at our own kids (which, BTW, puts Cogliano and Gilbert potentially into the same boat as Staal).
