Hat-trick in the first game, good start! (albeit preseason).

Thanks for the update, Avy.
I agree with you, history shows us that another year in russia its always good for russian players. Cherepanov is in ideal situation he can play top minutes in his home with awesome players and develop
nicely. What the point of bringing him with his 15 years old girl body in NHL last year or even after the draft? People talk about Kane and Gagner but Hawks and Oilers is not contenders they can afford to suck for a while and develop they kids like Kings did with Frolov and others.

Preseason is nothing i more interested in line combinations. Avangard is particularly KHLs Tampa - crapload of quality forwards with no defense and goaltending.

You mean you don't think John Graham will be their savior?

From an interview with Cherepanov, in which he talks about playing with and working with Jagr:

Quote:
- Last season, you said more than once that Jagr is your idol and that you dreamed of playing on one team with him. Today your dream has come true…

- You can’t even imagine what emotions are now overflowing in me. A dream is a dream, but at the same time, even I could not imagine that we would play together for the Omsk club!

- Most likely, you now wait for the chance to play with him on one line?

- I think that such a thing is possible! Anyway, now I dream of scoring off a pass from Jagr.

- Has it been possible to get the autograph of the Czech?

- Not yet, but after all, the whole season is still ahead.

- Do you communicate with him often?

- Yes, sometimes I ask him about the NHL. Jaromir knows that I have been invited there, and once said: “You want to play in the NHL - train more.” After these words I began to work even harder. By the way, after each practice Jaromir works extra with me: shows me all kinds of techniques, teaches me how to shoot, tells me how and on what I still need to work. In a way he is one of my coaches.

How? The two have nothing to do with anything.

Jagr staying wouldn't have changed the fact that Cherepanov was still under contract with Omsk for a year.

Great start for Chere.

I don't give much for the Slovak league though (they played a slovak team). I guess they got a couple of solid teams -- but I've seen several PPG players come from the Slovak Elite league to Swe 3rd without impressing at all. Some of them not even taking a ordinary spot.

I just hope that the team he's helping is NYR, not only Omsk.
I also worry about the competitiveness of the entry contract NYR are allowed to offer Chere next year.

Cherep

"I don't want any problems with Avangard management and this is why i stayed."

Btw Avangard played another friendly Jagr keep scoring minimum 2 points per game. 2 goals from Jagr today and 1 goal from Cherep against strong team.

The fact that Jagr lost a lot of weight (as he promised in his interview)
really show he more than serious, he want to solidify his legend and dominate KHL next 2-3 years.

Stats on avanagard site is old but he said he want to lose weight because of different style and visually he defenatle lost at least 10lbs
he almost looked like normal human being during his tv interview in Russia.

Interesting comments, but good to see Cherepanov score again.

Also, dammit Jagr why couldn't you lose weight and show you wanted to dominate the NHL last year! (partly joking)

Avangard won this friendly tourney. They played in the final against Radulovs Salavat Ulaev. Cherepanov maid assist and penalty for elbowing . I want him to fight with Cris Simon this season.

Cherepanov picked up a goal and an assist today in a pre-season game against Barys Astana. Omsk won 5-1, Cherepanov assisted on the 4th and scored the 5th.

It's just you. It's Jagr that's close to 2ppg. Cherepanov's on a goal a game pace, but only has one assist to go along (5g, 1a in 5gp).

Sept 2nd. Cherepanov is scheduled to leave Omsk on Tues to join the Russian Jr team in preparation for a junior tournament in the Czech Republic later in the month. So today may have been his last game with Omsk until the start of the season.
