I don't see that there is anyway Fistric passes Grossman in the pre-season. Grossman had a solid regular season and great playoffs. Fistric should be a regular, Top 6 defenseman this year, and Les Jackson alluded to that. He's also said that they aren't done making moves to create some cap space. I think Fistric will eventually start the season with either Daley or Boucher, whoever isn't traded.

I don't see any way they trade Daley given Boucher's and Zubie's age and health. If Boucher is healthy he goes out east for a pick/prospect unless the young guys look iffy and we have to come up with a RW. If he looks great then Fistric is the 7th d-man. Vish hopefully replaces Zubie when the time comes.

You could make the argument that Grossman was the Stars' best defensive Dman at even strength last year.

He's still got some improving to do on the PK. He should see his shorthanded minutes rise quite a bit this season, so he'll have that opportunity. Someone's got to compensate for the team-leading 3.12 TOI/60 4v5 minutes Norstrom leaves behind.
