However they might consider:

Pronger & (Getzlaf or Perry) + 1st(09)

for

Malkin + 2nd (09)

Maybe.............

But you have to understand Malkin is one of the top 3-5 forwards in the game already...and he's only 21...He IS a Franchise player AND as others have pointed out is signed long term relatively reasonably..........Perhaps if Pronger was 28 and you throw in Perry that itself might do it.........

But with the likes of Gonchar and Whitney, I think the last thing The Pens need is a GREAT however aging defencemen in Proger.....

Thats my .02
Pronger, Getzlaf and a first would be too much. Getzlaf himself is already a legit first line center ..

Well Phaneuf was better than Pronger last season. And one of the two has yet to reach his potential.

And that was one of Prongers worst seasons in the last 10 years...after winning a cup, if you guys think Pronger isn't going to be alot better this year, you are going to be extremely disappointed.

Getzlaf is a 1st line Center IMO. However, as I stated is NOT a franchise player that Malkin is....maybe a 2nd instead of first....but then no 2nd from Pitts....

Keep in mind that Proger is 34 and say 5 years down the road when Malkin is only 26 and near the best years of a players career....Pitts would need something to show for it, even if they did win a Cup with Pronger.....

That being said Pitts does not need to even make this deal, they could easily win the Cup without him.

And btw I'm not a Pens fan

To whomever suggested Gagner for Pronger, your equally as bad as the OP.

Lets trade a budding super star for a player that ALREADY REQUESTED A TRADE FROM YOUR TEAM! Then you can add on the rest of the arguements already made for Pronger not being worth Malkin.

Pronger could very well be traded but I doubt it'd be for someone of Malkins abilities. Most likely they'll get a good servicable player, a good prospect, and either a project prospect or a pick. For those saying Pronger is too old to net a return...if he's what your team believes is what's needed to win a cup now they might very well trade someone important off. Dallas traded Iginla to Calgary for Nieuwendyk. Many view that as the piece that put them over the top.
Iginla was totally unproven at the time of the trade.

Pronger will now be behind Phaneuf till he retires, everyone on the planet knows this except some Oilers fans. I'm amazed at the lack of love Phaneuf gets from you guys, Phaneuf's first 3 years makes your former short lived superstar Pronger's first 3 look like a joke.
Are you kidding? Phaneuf wouldn't have even been nominated for the Norris had Niedermayer not taken so long to get back and Pronger didn't get an injury. Pahneuf is no hockey god yet.. Jesus he hits a couple guys hard and has a hard shot and he becomes a godly defensemen?... He's good... he isn't that good. Stop trying to get on your knees for him so much.
