Dinamo Riga win 1st pre-season game

Dinamo Riga of the KHL won their first pre-season game against HK32 Liptovsky Mikulas from the Slovak Extraliga 2:1 in a shootout

Lauris Darzins scored the lone Riga goal in regulation and added another in the shootout. Ronald Petrovicky also scored in the shootout.

Sergejs Naumovs and Edgars Masalskis split the duties in net.

Good start for Dinamo!

now if they only made Russian or English version of the web-site...very nationalistic to play in a Russian League and not have a readable web-site.

It's not a russian league, it's a Kontinental League

But they should have at least an english and or russian version as well.

AND! all the websites should be in three languages. the one spoken where the team is, russian and english. it's a must have if you want to create interest throughout europe and asia.

Their current website is only temporary. They are working on a Latvian/English/Russian site right now. And it was Matt Ellison who scored in the Shoot out not Petrovicky. The game was played without Hossa (sat out due to a small injury) and new signees Mark Hartigan and Duvie Westcott who hadn't arrived in Slovakia yet.

Pay attention to the thread title. It was the first pre-season game and against a team that is not part of the KHL. The KHL season doesn't start for a while.

Dinamo Riga's site is actually quite nice and already has a lot of info and pix. It only launched July 15th. I'm sure they're working on the Russian and English versions.

The KHL also just launched kinda a preview version of their site... Just a news line for now and it's all in Russian.

During Soviet times I always sympathized Dinamo Riga, as they were a small team and always played hard, gave my CSKA big-time battles. I want to be able to read their site. Regardless of that, they must have a Russian version of it in a Russian League...

Yes, I still remember the organist playing "Nam ne strashen seryi volk" theme from the 3 Little Piggies cartoon ("We're not afraid of the big bad wolf") when CSKA would come and visit our arena

Ahhh, but it is not a Russian league similarly as the NHL is not a US league Anyways, Riga Dinamo will launch a proper site once the season starts (at least that is what they have been saying) and that site should have different language versions (I hope that it will have LAT/RU/ENG language choices)

ok now, NHL is a NA American League, KHL is a Russian League where teams from Latvia, BLR and KZH are allowed to play You guys should really appreciate a chance to play in such a league which will help out your NT greatly. BTW DR won it's friendly with Amur.

Well, more like only one - Matt Ellison. There are 6 foreigners on the Riga roster - Petrovicky (CZ or SK), Hossa (SK), Hartigan (CAN), Ellison (CAN), Westcott (CAN) and Novak (CZ or SK). All of these played except Ellison (you can see Hartigan and Westcott on the score sheet ).

I emailed the company that designed their current site and got a very courteous reply in excellent English:

Thanks for your question! We appreciate your interest and would like to confirm that we are working on the main Dinamo Riga website (current is only temporary solution), which will be indeed multilingual - in Latvian, Russian and English. The launch of the new website is planned for beginning of September. Stay tuned!

Kind regards,
