Clamhouse!

Those were the golden years! Listening to the Schmoozer and then Joe with THE INCOMPARABLE Sugar Ray Martel on the other side of the Glass! Ahhhhhhhhhh Suuuuuuugah! While I studied overnight in my college years... Jerome from Manhattan! You are entering the Jerome zone! And Doris from Rego Park god rest her soul!

I will never get that back!

Joe deserves the afternoon spot! Unlike these condescending imbeciles he is a real fan and doesn't take dumps on the callers!

He actually talks Hockey and cares about what happens to the Rangers. Oh I remember those years 2000-2004 when he'd be like "It's now been seven yeahs!!! Seven yeahs!!! Since the Rangehs haven't made the playoffs! There's a stench coming from Madison Square Garden in April. And it's not the Elephants from the Circus, it's the Rangers and that other circus!"

CLASSIC STUFF!
great post, good times for sure.

They get crazy ratings during their time slot. I don't see WFAN letting these two walk. I'd expect them to do all they can to keep them happy and together.

If they can't stand each other, what can FAN do?

Make them honor their contracts and be professional about it?

Anyone remember Jerome? He was a die-hard Yankee fan and would call Somers up like every day. Got to the point where right before he called there would be a "You are now entering...the Jerome zone..."

He was a great call.
I heard Jerome call in twice this weekend, he was semi Normal. I hadn't heard from him in a looong time. His Dr. ordered him NOT to call in because he would get so stressed out & drive his mother crazy.

I would be fine with it too, 19 years is enough for me.

I heard him too. Apparently now he's "Jerome from the Bronx". Both calls were within a 24-hour window and they both demanded the Yankees trading for "the guy from Cleveland (C.C. Sabathia) for Alan Horne, a prospect and a position player". Good to see he hasn't changed

One of them got the call to fill Barry M's slot at ESPN.

Actually the coverage wouldn't be all that different.

It's official: http://www.nypost.com/seven/08142008...one_124473.htm

Mike will man the fort for the time being while MD is rumored to be heading for Sirius.

Wow, a lot of haters!

I realize they didn't talk hockey as much as we'd like (TG for XM204), but they were a part of my lunch hour in the car eating a sandwich (or taco bell) for many years. It's almost like a part of my youth is gone. (I'm turning 30 in 2 weeks so I'm constantly being philosophical and reminiscent haha)

They might have made us mad at times, but they kept us listening, or at least me.

Good. I always hated those two arrogant windbags. Maybe whoever joins will know what a puck is. Or at least put in somewhat of an effort to find out what a puck is and act convincingly interested.

I'm with you. It's the end of an era, and it's as if a piece of my routine is missing. I was a huge fan, and though I often disagreed with what they had to say, I always tuned in to hear what they'd talk about next. And that's the mark of a good show.

For me, the trademark things I'll miss are the little things - like Dog making Mike guess the national and NY tv ratings, and hearing Mike bellow out 4.2 in his "fauh point tu" NY accent.

Or pulling into the driveway with my father after hockey practice on a Friday evening and hearing them make their picks for the NFL games that weekend.

I'll miss the duo.

Does this mean that Mike can permanently plant his fat, arrogant face between the buttocks of Parcells?

The less Mike throws in his own view, the better he is, IMO. I think he is far better on his Sunday NFL Now show where he brings in people who know what they are talking about with different POV's.

Mike and Chris were stale. Being told what to think gets old after a while even for the sheepiest sheep.

Yeah the Dog they're saying has been offered a 10 yr Sirius deal 2-3 mil a year. And Mike already signed a long term deal with the FAN not to long ago.

I'm with you as well. If I'm not in the car with XM and it's the afternoon, I'm probably listening to Mike & Chris (at least until Michael Kay starts on ESPN Radio because I will at least get some hockey talk there). But anyway, I don't care that they don't talk a lot of hockey, I still enjoyed their show. I'll miss it. I don't know if I'll enjoy Mike by himself so much; they had a great dynamic.

Fatcessa has his Miked Up gig plus he could be given additional work on Sunday Night Football as an analyst.
The show is going nowhere. Russo will work for Sirius, for somewhere around $15 mill 3 years. Mike will still be there. He's the 1 I hate.

Another thing, I really wish O&A were still local rather than national now. They would give us radio gold with this if they were still only local. They haven't really done any Mike & Dog stuff since syndication and XM picking them up so they probably won't touch this.
