If Boll had busted his hand hitting something or fixing something around the house I would feel cursed. The fact he did it playing hockey to keep in shape is a reality that can happen to any player and he did it with plenty of time for the hand to heal. He will still be a force this year.

Wait...... you say that like it's a good thing. Do you mean that the team is better this year?

too much depth?
hmmm...Nash, Huselius, Umberger,Malhotra, Chimera should all be locks to make the team.....there are Injury questions with Peca, Modin, Torres and now Boll.
Some verry promising rookies in Brassard, Voracek and Filatov. Of course, Brule (now gone) and Picard have proven how difficult some young stars find the transition to Pro hockey! Then some fringe players in York, McDonald and Murray.
Sestito, as has been mentioned, was far superior to Boll in the OHL, scoring well not only in regular season but in the playoffs as well. He actually did very well as a first year pro in the AHL and reportedly has been training this summer in Columbus to prepare for camp.
I figure fans should wait for training camp and pre-season games and see who is ready to start the season. I predict Sestito will play at least ten NHL games in the first half of the season and make a decent contribution! Certainly he can use more time in the AHL to grow into his massive frame and refine his skills but don't write him off too soon!

According to the Dispatch Rumblings by Bob Hunter (idiot), Boll is a defenseman.

"After defenseman Jared Boll suffered a broken middle finger on his right hand in a pickup hockey game in July, it's expected the Blue Jackets will tell him that he can play, but not fight, during training camp."

I've quit reading Hunter, thanks for sharing. It help to reinforce why I don't bother.

Do players often get into fights during training camp?

Do the pre-season games count as part of camp?

Early games do, as they are being graded for their play. Roster is usually set by the last or second to last preseason game.
