For all the rumblings people make about him not coming over this year, it is a good thing he decided not to. Otherwise he would have not been eligible to play any level of international tournaments.

I agree with you, history shows us that another year in russia its always good for russian players. Cherepanov is in ideal situation he can play top minutes in his home with awesome players and develop
nicely. What the point of bringing him with his 15 years old girl body in NHL last year or even after the draft? People talk about Kane and Gagner but Hawks and Oilers is not contenders they can afford to suck for a while and develop they kids like Kings did with Frolov and others.
Preseason is nothing i more interested in line combinations. Avangard is particularly KHLs Tampa - crapload of quality forwards with no defense and goaltending.

Cherry got a hat trick the first game? Thats awesome. Too bad it only was preseason but if thats just the start of an amazing season then I can't wait.
I don't give much for the Slovak league though (they played a slovak team). I guess they got a couple of solid teams -- but I've seen several PPG players come from the Slovak Elite league to Swe 3rd without impressing at all. Some of them not even taking a ordinary spot.
I just hope that the team he's helping is NYR, not only Omsk.
I also worry about the competitiveness of the entry contract NYR are allowed to offer Chere next year.

Stats on avanagard site is old but he said he want to lose weight because of different style and visually he defenatle lost at least 10lbs

Avangard won this friendly tourney. They played in the final against Radulovs Salavat Ulaev. Cherepanov maid assist and penalty for elbowing . I want him to fight with Cris Simon this season.
Cherepanov picked up a goal and an assist today in a pre-season game against Barys Astana. Omsk won 5-1, Cherepanov assisted on the 4th and scored the 5th.

Sept 2nd. Cherepanov is scheduled to leave Omsk on Tues to join the Russian Jr team in preparation for a junior tournament in the Czech Republic later in the month. So today may have been his last game with Omsk until the start of the season.
