Whoops, I totally forgot about that. It's not really close since Plekanec is so inconsistent at the draw.

Tough poll, man.

Plek has consistently gotten better over the past 3 years. Horcoff, has a great year, then the next its average, then a great year. This year, had he not been injured, he could have had a pretty solid year. This upcoming season will tell, but you can't really go wrong.

Over the past three seasons, Horcoff has an edge.. but not by a whole lot. Both have been very average in the face-off circle (49-50%) minus one good season for Horcoff where he posted 52%, three years ago.

Plekanec

Higher offensive ceiling. We've seen the best from Horcoff. We haven't from Pleks.

Plekanec took some big steps this year in showing he can be a very effective player but the winner here is Horcoff.

They are both second line centers playing the first line center role since their team didn't have any other choice... Their production will depend a lot on who will be on their line s... Plekanec had 2 very good partners last year in Kovy and A.Kostystin... Put him with Higgins and Latendresse for fun, and his production will go down... I also wanna see what will be the Oilers lines combinations this year...
Anyway, i didn't vote in this poll but i think Horcoff has a slight edge based on talent and is good defensively... I think Plekanec is even better defensively tho... This guy could be a very good 3rd line center with 35 pts/season, or a decent 2nd line center with 50 pts/season or an ordinary 1st line center with 70-80 pts/season... It's only my opinion though

If you admit Horcoff is better, then why would you rather have Plekanec on your team?

anyways Ill take Horcoff.

Thats neck to neck. I took Plekanec because he is a Habs but other wise, I would likely take Horcoff because of his faceoff skills and brings more grit to his game.

But you never know with the Mac-Blender
Cole - Horcoff - Hemsky
Nilsson - Cogliano -Gagner
Penner - Pouliot - Pisani
Moreau - Brodziak - Stortini

Ex: Schremp

As for two-way ability, they played the same quality of minutes but Plekanec got much better plus teammates (which helps his +/- considerably). Horcoff's PTS/60 trumps Plekanec (2.59 to 2.39) - he was the better even strength scorer. Both are first unit PK. Horcoff's GF/60 is slightly better but Plekanec's GA/60 is a fair bit better. Horcoff has the edge in faceoff percentage but Plekanec took more draws.

The big difference is that Horcoff played over 4 minutes (!!) more per game then Plekanec. Horcoff was a work-horse: First line even-strength, first-unit PK, first-unit PP and had a greater PTS/60 and PPG percentage (0.94 to 0.85) doing it.

Horcoff has been better statistically but what makes this poll so close is the 4 year age gap and Plekanec's linear development curve. I said Horcoff this time but in two or so years, I wouldn't be shocked to find myself picking Plekanec hands down.

EDIT: And Horcoff's a first-line centre. Top-25 in the league at any rate, which has to make him a 1C, otherwise there aren't enough 1C's to fill every teams roster. I'm guessing Plekanec makes that jump next year.

Plekanec rarely takes "key" faceoffs though.

I just love the way this guy plays. He's definitely one of my favorite non-Senators.

Horcoff is better now, I'd hope that Plekanec would be better in the future.

Pretty good line-up... No superstar but good balanced lines and some youngness... I think Oilers can make the playoffs if Garon continues to play good
