Yeah I was thinking about Spezza too, but Vancouver needs someone to play on the Sedin's wing. And Heatley would be awesome at that. But then again your offer is pretty nice

Spezza is more valuable then Heatley.

Cups are won with strong goaltending and strength up the middle. Moving Spezza would just open up another hole.

No.

Ottawa isn't getting Luongo.

Nobody is getting Luongo, unless Luongo wants out. Which he doesn't.

...yet.

Yeah, no way.

Luongo in goalie terms = your top pairing or most of your top line.

Hes our last line of defence man!

so unless he personally wants out, it take that to get us to trade him.

lololol

Forwards right now:
Vermette - Spezza - Alfredsson
Foligno - Fisher - Heatley
McAmmond - Kelly - Neil
Ruutu - Bass - Donovan
Winchester, Nikulin

Without Spezza:
Heatley - Fisher - Alfredsson
Foligno - Vermette - Kelly
Winchester - McAmmond - Neil
Ruutu - Bass - Donovan
Nikulin

Without Heatley:

Fisher - Spezza - Alfredsson
Foligno - Vermette - Kelly
Winchester - McAmmond - Neil
Ruutu - Bass - Donovan
Nikulin

Vancouver's team would be worse.

Neither team would do this.

Fair value, but doesn't really work out in the end for either team.

Vancouver:
Bad Goaltending

Ottawa:
Bad Offense

Nobody is getting luongo cause it took the canucks 10 years to find a legit starting goalie and their entire existence to get a franchise goalie who is currently the best in the league. It would have to be a proposal like this for it to happen.

To Ottawa:
Luongo

To Vancouver:
Spezza
Heatley
Alfredsson

Ottawa gets their goalie and Vancouver gets their offense.

Well Gillis wouldn't be the one shopping luongo and others would be calling him. Gillis laughs at all other proposals and hangs up.

lol, 2 100+ pt forwards and one of the best two-way forwards in the league that can put up 90+ pts for Luongo?

If I was Gillis, Id rather have Spezza over Heatley.
Vancouver desperately needs goals. I can appreciate a great playmaker, but some people forget someone actually needs to put the puck in the net.

A trade like this definitely takes away a massive chunk of OTTs firepower and is a huge downgrade in net for VAN. But players like Heatley and Luongo dont come cheap.

Its not like either team did a whole lot of anything last year. Maybe a massive shake-up would help.

No they don't. Bernier looks pretty well suited. They need someone to build another line around.

Do you mean you'd rather have Heatley?? He is the goal scorer. Spezza is the playmaker.

And I agree, let's shake it up. Van isn't going to get the superstar forward they need by trading pyatt. I know Luongo is a huge star but Van didn't do too well with that star last season.

Can we not go down this road? The poster you quoted probably should have said "It would have to be a proposal like this for the Canucks to agree to it" instead of "It would have to be a proposal like this for it to happen."

We can all agree that Ottawa wouldn't trade their three best players (all All-Stars in their own right) for any one player in the league, but we don't need to get into a urinating contest over it.

Anyways, in before the dozens of spiteful "counterproposals"
