Isn't signing Stoll before we see him in one game with the Kings the same mistake DL made with Cloutier?

He was a RFA with no contract. He needed to be signed to something.

If he's truly 100% healthy then that's ok but I don't know if he is.

That would be a deal that I hope we would be giving O'Sullivan, but the market may indicate that he will get closer to $4 million.
He got concussed. He played too soon and go concussed again. That's the extent of his injuries post lockout. He played 82 games in 05/06 in his big year and 81 this season (the only game he missed, he was a healthy scratch with his buddy Torres).

He was 100% last fall, at least physically. He's not playing with post-concussion symptoms or significant injuries, the hit just changed his style quite a bit. Much more timid then he was before and he is a grinder at evens, so that hurt quite a bit.

You should be able to get him for a similar contract as he last got with the Oil. ~$2.2 million for a couple of years.

Maybe he's trying out for the All Black's. Is the weather finally clearing up down there?

Stoll now engaged. Probably in his best interest to sign and stay here for a bit. He seems like a good guy from his interviews and what people say.

Maybe guys like Brownie and JJ could toughen up Stoll again. Ever since that Markov hit he's totally softened up his style.

He's a blood and guts leader, so that intangible alone will be good for the kids. But unless he shakes off the FEAR he's going to be just as disappointing as Handzus. Even if he only puts up 30 - 40 pts. a year, he'll be a good role player - faceoff specialist and our chief PKer.

I can't believe we traded Lubo for he and Greene, though.

I guess all three players are question marks going into next season, but jeez.

Yeah I can't believe it either. Kings shot themselves in the foot by giving Lubo that contract plus the NTC. I guess we had no choice though.

I always liked Lombardi's trades, but I feel the Visnovsky and Cammy deals were done too quickly....I felt like the return could've been better but again timing was an issue with the draft and the NTC kicking in.

I don't normally post on other teams boards but being a fan of both Stoll and Greene I figured what the hell.

I see this as a tough trade to gauge from both sides. Vishnovsky obviously has the most luster out of the three guys but I really like the fit of Stoll and Greene in LA.

Greene is a meat and potatoes kind of player. He isn't going to wow anyone but I think he is exactly the type of guy you want somewhere on your blueline. His age fits nicely into the Kings current line up.

In the case of Stoll I think you guys picked up a real sleeper and if the 3.5 for 4 years is accurate I have no doubt that he will soon become a great bargain. Last year was a struggle for him which is well documented but he looked very much like the real deal in '05-'06. Then after a sluggish start in '06-'07 due to the cup run hang over he proved in my mind he wasn't a flash in the pan and leading up to when he got his concussion he was probably the Oilers best player.

I would would easily write off last season as the blip on the radar and not his 68 pt season. I think he simply struggled to regain his confidence from the concussion. Many players have had an off year after such an injury and rebounded fine from that point on. I would fully expect him to be a 60+ point player year in and year out in addition to his intagibles such as faceoffs and PKing. I see him as the quintessential 2nd line center.

I didn't want the Oilers to move him frankly and I still think they will end up regretting it. Vishnovsky is an intriguing player though, so when all is said and done maybe this is one of those trades where both teams look back on it and are both happy.

Just my two cents.

No doubt that Stoll is the centerpiece of this deal for the Kings, but I look forward to seeing some toughness from Greene in front of our net. I don't think he will stand there with his thumb up his ass while our goalie is being speared, which happened last season.

I couldn't agree more. The Oilers had an overload at the center position, which had a lot to do with why Stoll became expendable, but he's a very good player when he's on his game. I fully expect Stoll to rebound to his 06-07 form for 2 reasons: 1) there's nothing wrong with him physically, he just needed a year to get over the concussion and 2) he's way too competitive not to rebound

I strongly believe this was a good trade for both teams, especially when you take into consideration the players' ages and salaries.

It was pretty good, Eric Rush started asking him if there were any polynesians in the NHL and that if you gave a Maori or Islander a stick it would be over for everyone else.

I hope the fact that he's on the team now means Bob will begin pronouncing his last name the way it's supposed to be pronounced instead of "Stall."

I'm not in it for the spotlight so if people choose to believe me that's fine, but the agreement was a 4 year, 14 million dollar deal (3.5 million/season on average). I think I've proven in the past that I do have sources around the league; some of the posters who have been around since the beginning may know this.

Again, I'm not doing this to "break a story", just trying to inform people. Mods, I apologize if this is overboard and will understand if you delete my post...

I am not saying that you do not have legitimate sources.....but it has been almost a week since you posted this and we have heard nothing about Stoll signing a new contract. Either it was pure speculation on the part of your source(s) or negotiations have hit a snag.

Stoll probably won't produce much at all. He's a place holder and I doubt he'll have any more impact than say a Willsie or Armstrong. I'll wait for the kids to kick in. mess of a trade that was Visnovsky for Stoll and Greene...pathetic one sided excuse of a deal, if you gotta dump his salary at least get something useful for him.
