Other than Dumont, I don't see a defenseman who's any better than what I'll get on my next pick. So, I'm going to take an elitely talented forward, C/LW Dennis Maruk.

Still don't know how I missed Dumont... I searched three times.

My write up just got deleted because my computer sucks...

Rossland is going to try to select all the best remaining West Kootenay players so we're going with power forward Adam Deadmarsh and star senior goalie Seth Martin.

Deadmarsh had a very strong PF career before concussions destroyed it far too early. His legacy would be much stronger had he been able to play out the career he deserved, but that being said he made a very strong contribution while he was still around. Deadmarsh was a big part of a Cup win in Colorado.

Martin was a legendary senior goaltender who could've made a bigger mark in the NHL easily. Had one strong year there with the Blues but didn't persue it hard. Took Trail to the World Championship and Allan Cup. Martin at legends of hockey:

Quote:
Goalie Seth Martin played 30 games for the expansion St. Louis Blues in 1967-68. He spent over two decades in the game and was best known as a top senior player for the Trail Smoke Eaters and a valuable international performer for Canada.

Born in Rossland, BC, Martin was a junior standout in the WCJHL with the Lethbridge Native Sons. In 1953-54 he played 28 games for the Smoke Eaters, which began a full time association that lasted nearly ten years. Martin backstopped the team to a number of WIHL titles and was on hand when they won the gold medal while representing Canada at the 1961 World Championships. He also helped Trail win the 1962 Allan Cup and played for his country at the 1963 World tourney and the 1964 Innsbruck Olympics as part of the formative period of the national team program.

Martin next suited up for his home town Rossland Warriors for three years. He also helped Canada win the bronze medal at the 1966 and 1967 World Championships. In June 1967 he signed as a free agent with the St. Louis Blues as they were mobilizing for their first NHL season. The steady veteran played 30 games for the club as Glenn Hall's reserve and made two post-season appearances when the team reached the Stanley Cup final.

Jeez, I've really got to get home to my books before it's my turn again. I've got to check about 8 bios and even then, I may not know who to choose.

Damn you guys are moving fast.

The Vancouver Giants select C/RW Pavol Demitra and D Frantisek Tikal.

In honour of Tikal who just passed away last week, he will be named our captain.

I was just about to grab Tikal. Should have left the office early

The Petes grab D. Frank "Moose" Goheen

Frank "Moose" Goheen began his hockey career with the White Bear High School and City Team and was said to have been the finest player produced in the state of Minnesota. He was even considered by some to be even better than the legendary Hobey Baker. Moose Goheen was elected to Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame in 1958 and to the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1952.

Well, Tikal being taken makes my decision just a little bit easier. But relatively speaking, it's still not all that easy.

I will be back ASAP with my pick.

Anyway, the Regina Capitals have decided that we can't go wrong with Hall of Famer Dickie Boon, a player who was one of the top defensemen of his time. A real bio will follow later tonight. For now, let's keep this thing moving!

Wow, I was considering passing up Tikal, because like pits I thought I could probably get away with it. Guess not lol.

Nice pick with Boon seventies, he was one of the guys I was considering instead of Tikal.

D - Al Arbour

Quote:
The Sudbury, Ontario, native played defense on the junior Windsor Spitfires of the OHA. After distinguishing himself as an amateur, he was signed by the Detroit Red Wings and joined the pro ranks with the Edmonton Flyers of the Western Hockey League in 1952-53. He split the next four years between Alberta, the Motor City and Sherbrooke in the Quebec senior loop.

In 1957-58, Arbour played his first full NHL season in the red and white of the Wings. Following that season, he was claimed by the Chicago Black Hawks, where he toiled for three years including 1961, the year of the franchise's Stanley Cup triumph. Arbour next played five seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs and earned his second Stanley Cup ring in 1962. After spending the 1966-67 season in the AHL, he returned to contribute experience and stability to the defense corps of the expansion St. Louis Blues in 1967-68. Early in 1970-71, he retired as a player after 600 games over 14 years. Arbour was also one of the few players in league history to wear glasses while playing.

- LOH
* Was a first pairing defenseman on MLD #8 Championship Team.

We'll draft LW Herb Cain.

Our draft plan... giving it away here... is to draft our top 3 forwards and top 2 defencemen will be outsider talent, and then lines 2-4 and 3-6 defencemen will be all West Kootenay people. Just FYI so you can make sense of what I'm doing.

Well he is now!

Anyway, I was just explaining my "plan" so it would make sense. I wanted to do a whole Kootenay region team but I'm not sure the top line players would produce much because the likes of Ferraro and Gare are gone in the main draft.
