a goalie with 3 vezina nominations and 3 30 win seasons (2 of them 37 win seasons) in his first 3 years in the league, who has become the face of his team, and steps up big time in the playoffs?

yeah, someone would probably give up some decent stuff for him

I guess 12 isn't too bad and seeing how goalies seem to get 0 return in trades lately (luongo, huet) i guess 12 is a very good #. IMO goalie is the most valuable position and since lundqvist is top 5(arguably top 2 or 3) and only 26 sinced long term, i would put him only behind Sid, Ovy, and Malkin.

Seems about right when you take his age into consideration. Having a guaranteed #1 for the next decade is a nice thing.

I would've put Zetterberg up there long before Spezza though. Even if his contract expires next season, the guy is one of the best two-way forwards in the game. He'll probably get 8 - 8.35 per year. I'll take Zetterberg at that rate over Spezza at 7/year.

I would've ranked Eric Staal higher than Richards and Kopitar as well.

He was the highest rated for Goalies, Brodeur is 21st and LuOVERRATED is 23rd

The only reason Brodeur is 21st is because of his age, otherwise he'd be ahead of Henrik, no doubt.

Similarly, the only reason Luongo is ranked so low is because he's so much closer to free agency, otherwise he'd also be ahead of Lundqvist.

Essentially, if this list was made based on skill alone, those two guys would both be ahead of Lundqvist.

Hate to say it, especially about Marty, but it's the truth.

IMO it's very reasonable, goalies just have inherently lower trade "values".

Yeah - but that's well known already. Any Ranger fan saying Lundqvist is above and beyond Brodeur and Luongo is being biased.

this is list is stupid, it is pretty much the best players in the league with age considered, though kovalchuk near the end is pretty silly to me.

ESPN's fantasy rankings have Lundqvist ranked down at #31, with Brodeur, Nabokov, Giguere, Fleury, Theodore, Price, Luongo, Bryzgalov, Osgood, and Huet all ranked ahead of him. They have him winning only 34 games, and this is what they say about him:

Quote:
2009 Outlook: Here’s the thing with Lundqvist: he is consistent as they come and a very safe pick as your No. 1 goaltender, but he doesn’t come with the upside of other picks. We’ve been witness to “King Henrik’s” high-quality ceiling the last two seasons, and it really doesn’t look like he’ll turn in better numbers than 35 wins, a 2.25 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. Those are terrific numbers, but he doesn’t come with the blow-you-away potential of a Roberto Luongo or a Jean-Sebastien Giguere. We’ll still take Lundqvist’s contributions as a top fantasy pick, but until the Rangers look more like the class of the league, Lundqvist isn’t a first-rounder.

Well, it is a fantasy ranking, not a goalie ranking. And considering the Rangers' squad for 08-09 has quite a few question marks, I think it's safe to say Lundqvist (despite his excellence) might be something of a medium-high risk, high-reward pick for a fantasy team.

Good old ESPN...always good for a laugh.

So Lundqvist won't get any better at 26? A Vezina finalist all 3 years in the league..but nope, hes not getting better? And goalies usually hit their prime at around 28-29..

I love ESPN. There like a dumb cousin we all have that says stupid things once and awhile to get a laugh out of everyone.

Its not the rankings..its the comments they added.(edit ok..i lied...Huet? Price? Theodore? Osgood...Bryzgalov??..yup that list is brutal!)

And a goalies that been in the league for 3 years..and got 3 vezina nomination is not a high or even medium risk/high reward player at all.

Hes a low risk/high reward player that will go in most first rounds (depending how smart people are in the league).

Send a message via AIM to Lundqvist=Vezina
Kovalchuk only at 47?
One way player or not he would get a king's ransom if traded.
