I guess thats just how it goes on HF.

No, from an Oilers POV. Gilbert was just signed to a 6-year contract. Havlat is an excellent player, but he's an UFA next summer, and extemely injury prone. Subban is a nice prospect, but I don't see a need for him, with all the defensive prospects already in the Oilers' system. If MTL wants Jacques, they can have him, cheap.

Chicago gets bent over, violated, thrown into a pool of acid, then taken out and doused with vinegar and salt.

The Oilers are not shopping Gilbert...at all....so don't waste your time. I'm guessing there would be a pretty short list of young defencemen we would actually take in return for him, so injury-plagued forwards and defensive prospects need not apply.

The Hawks do not need anymore defensemen. They are certainly not going to trade two forwards for a dman and another bottom-six forward. Buff isn't going anywhere.

I'm not sure any team does this deal. The Hawks certainly don't need Gilbert, and there is no way the Oilers would trade him for Havlat considering injury+contract status.

It just doesn't make sense in terms of team needs.

Surprisingly I dont like this trade for the habs at all, yeah we get rid of dandenault. But I value way more Subban that any other offensive players we get. We are already loaded offensively and have incredible depth except at center.

As has been stated Chicago have no need for another defence man and another bottom 6 forward.

How's that? They get the best player in the whole package, even if they are not in need of him.

Like my laughing smillies state, this proposal is terrible.

Yeah, Havlat's a terrific hockey player, but the guy is made of glass and the Oilers don't need any more forwards. Plus, they've already got one top line forward becoming a UFA next year, there's no reason to trade their most important player (or close to it) to get him.

Byfuglien gets stuck in the forward position a lot for a reason, because he can't play d. Since we lose Dandy it's very tempting from the habs.

Byfuglien has been converted to a full time forward and will stay as a forward except for possibly filling in on the back end due to injuries.

Hmm, Hawks give up the best 2 players in this deal IMO. Noooo thanks. Dustin Byfuglien is going to be an awesome top 6 forward in this league. He has awesome hands and is built like a linebacker. Once he adjusts completely to playing forward, he'll be a 30-30 guy. I'm expecting 30 goals this year actually.

So montreal get Jean-Francois Jacques and Dustin Byfuglien
For Dandenault and Subban i think they do that trade if its anyone but Subban
Edmonton gets Martin Havlat and PK Subban
for Jacques and Gilbert if havlat was sharp they might accept
Chicago gets Tom Gilbert and Mathieu Dandenault
for Byfuglien and not a chance in chicago caseif they get subban instead of Dandenault they might

The Hawks get the player with the most value in this deal.

Havlat is so injury prone and has an expiring contract, and Gilbert has alot more value than Byfluglien

I don't think Edmonton has it that bad, but Montreal somehow ends up with Byfuglien while giving up pretty much nothing in return. Subban is something akin to a Byfuglien prototype, though possibly a better defenseman. Why would Chicago trade down like that?

No, the Hawks aren't getting the best player in the deal, also not to mention we have plenty of NHL quality defensemen. Doesn't fulfill our needs and makes us an overall worse team. Pass.

Well, we'll just have to disagree there. I think 99% of Hawk fans would not trade Buff for Gilbert straight up.
