I watch Womens Beach Volleyball because it is a fun and exciting sport. Its probably my favorite Olympic sport of the summer games. It doesnt drag on like alot of others. However, the bonus of the sport is that there are alot of hot women and they just happen to be in itty bitty teenie weenie bikinis.

Man I wish he would of raced the whole 100m's, he would of probably hit 9.6 seconds. That was an amazing race.

Some other opinions:

Phelps get eight today. Great to see him become the greatest Olympian ever. His 200m butterfly was amazing. Great decision not to lean in for the touch. He should break the 18 total medals record in four years in London.

The US basketball team is for real. I really thought Greece and Spain would give them trouble, and they did, for about 3 quarters total out of eight. They look good, especially Wade. He is the sparkplug of the team and leads the Olympics in scoring.

This whole underage thing going on with the Chinese gymnasts is ridiculous. If its true that some were underage, they should be disqualified. As much as the Olympics have been decent in China, this news, along with the real singer singing in the background of the opener, the CG fireworks, the smog, and the killing of the American coach has really put a damper on the games.

All it says is that, contrary to popular belief, the Chinese really still are your grandfather's communists. Ultimately nothing changes except on the surface.

You forgot to mention perhaps the biggest scandal of all - regular Chinese and many foreigners were turned away for tickets, told that events were sold out. Parents of Olympians weren't able to get access to their venues for this reason...

...and then every single event barely has a half-capacity crowd. Why? The Chinese admit now that it's because they thought large crowds would be unmanageable and uncontrollable and they didn't want any uncontrolled public protests or unapproved political commentary to break out.

This thread hasn't generated enough discussion to warrant a sticky - it'll be around as long as anyone's interested in finding it.

I said before the Olympics started that China scared me because their government would not only support cheating, but help the athletes cheat to win. Looks like I may have been completely right:

I still think as many others too that Paavo Nurmi is the greatest Olympian ever

I'm not so sure. The amazing thing about Bolt is his long, effortless stride. It almost looked as though you could have cut him off at the waist and his legs would have kept going without any change in speed. Never seen anything like it.

If you read the responses to the article, you also find out that China outspent the United States 7:1 for athlete training for these Olympics. And for that desperation and the cheating they've come away with far more gold medals than the U.S. (or any other team, since the U.S. is a miles-away 2nd there), yet still trail the U.S. in overall medals - indeed, our nation has extended that lead over the past day.

Cheaters will win...but they'll never have true glory, and the Chinese method of oppression won't ever truly compete with athletes who freely choose to participate in their sports and become the best (like a ridiculously successful Michael Phelps) without any real public (an absolutely no government) pressure on them.

It is a bit "odd" when you have more gold medals than silver & bronze combined.....especially when 18 of your gold medals are in events that rely on subjective judges. (The USA, by comparision, has only two of those.)
