The Big M in a Wings uniform always seemed weird to me.

Bobby Orr in a Hawks uniform makes me queasy and I am not even a Bruins fan. If a player should have ever retired with his original team, it was him

Why does Gretzky as a Blue bother some people. He had already been traded once before that and went to one more team to finish his career. Why does Gretzky as a Blue bother some of you and not Gretzky as a King or a Ranger?

Just curious

He spent 8 years in LA and 3 in NYR. If he'd spent several years in St. Louis, it would probably be different, but we never got used to it and 10-15 years later it seems jarring to see him in a Blues jersey. It don't know if it 'bothers' people much as it just seems odd, in hindsight.

NYR are also (much as I hate them), a major original-6 team and seeing Gretzky play for them was much less weird than seeing him play for Anaheim or Carolina or Washington for his last 3 years would have been.

Fair enough, I wish he would have stayed in STL longer myself.

RE: Grant Fuhr in Calgary

a) How long did the Flames jersey have the design Fuhr is pictured in(the red and gold stripe coming up to under the flaming C)?

b) Given that Steve Smith and Fuhr both played for Calgary in 1999-00, they should have collaborated on an own goal against the Oilers in the Saddledome in a game 7.

Hextall as a Nordique.

If there's such a thing as hockey culture shock...

Quebec's reputation as a fast skating finesse team vs. Ron Hextall's in your face attitude towards everybody is a better illustration than many.

Tomas Vokoun.

Funny thing is that that game was televised on TSN, and Vokoun was absolutely shelled by the Flyers. I was watching the game with a friend who is a huge Habs fan (and who still had fresh goaltending wounds after the Patrick Roy fiasco) and remember mocking him about the fact that Montreal was dressing such a terrible nobody in net.

Is that Vokoun?

I can't think of many other well-known goalies to wear 37. I mean, I think Jablonski wore it, but it's not relevant..

I think I'd be more surprised at the uniforms Sillinger hasn't worn than the ones he has.

Ditto concern for the relevance:

Steve Penney wore 37 with Mtl. and the Jets in the 80s.

Trevor Kidd wore 37 with both the Leafs and Flames.
