Phx/Wsh

To Wsh:
Steven Reinprecht

To Phx
Eric Fehr

This move adds playoff experience to a young Wsh team, and more scoring youth to a prospect-laced line-up in the desert... thoughts?

Isn't Steven Reinprecht a pretty decent player? I don't know much about Eric Fehr so I can't say much to be honest.

Not to be snotty, because I don't really care at all, but what the hell was the purpose of this post? You basically analyzed it by saying you don't know much about either player.

Seems pretty decent of a trade to me.

The Caps haven't given up on Fehr yet, so I doubt they look to move him. They're also pretty good with playoff experience, they've got Clark, Nylander, and Fedorov for that.

Regardless, the salary doesn't work out. Washington would need any deal to be even or in their favor salary wise, and this isn't.

The Caps already have Backstrom, Fedorov, and Nylander at center. I know Reinprecht can also play wing, but he's most valuable at center. Also, while I like Fehr, and I hope he can get his career back on track, Phoenix already has a ton of NHL ready prospects. We can't go into the season with two veteren forwards. That's suicide. Reinprecht provides us with valuable experience, versatility, and stability. He can play any forward position on any line while being a good teammate, and a familiar face. He's a good veteren to have around for our rebuilding team. You just can't have all rooks and sophs out there.

Probably one of the better trades around here I've seen the Coyotes involved in, but still a no for all of the reasons rt stated above.

Echo that.

What this thread needs is some kind of Kubina/McCabe play. Or at least a 2nd Rounder going one way or the other 'to even up the value'.

This does nothing for the Caps. They're already over the cap and over the NHL roster limit, and Reinprecht doesn't bring a skill set that the team needs.

He would bring a lot more next year in all areas of the game than Fehr, outside of maybe offense should he break out. Which I don't see him doing(at least not next year). A statement like this means you know nothing about Rheinprecht or what he can bring to his team.

Doesn't it add salary to the Caps, who are already in cap trouble?

The Caps need Fehr to be what he is, a big strong power forward. Obviously this is going to be a pretty important year for him, but if he's healthy there's no reason to think he won't have a good year.

What exactly is Rheinprecht's skillset? Right now, the Caps don't need more forwards. Their top 9 is really pretty much set (1 opening that will go to Fehr or Fleischmann, unless someone else is moved). The Caps have no reason to do a trade like this, adding salary for no reason when they still think Fehr can do something.

I personally like Fehr, in the playoffs he looked like he was just waiting to explode in goals. Had quite a few chances. I think if you threw him on a line with the big boys he would do quite well.

this is one of the best trade proposals yet, but its a big no for 1) salary reasons and 2) Fehr is finally healthy after almost a year on the shelf. he deserves a chance to go through camp healthy & see if he can earn a spot with a coach who knows him.

a year from now... who knows

Make it a three team trade with Semin going to Edm and you have a deal.

The Caps have no need for Reinprecht, they have 4 or 5 guys that can play center ahead of him. I doubt that they spend all that time waiting on Fehr to get healthy to dump him right as he's about to start producing.

Smart, solid in all three zones, can play any position up front, good vision and timing with the puck, Stanley Cup winner, steady, quiet, effective, experienced veteren, .65PPG as a Coyote.

So basically he's a playmaker/finesse guy? The Caps don't need more of that; the Caps really don't need more of anything up front, the only place they could really use an upgrade is the D.

Not so much of a finesse guy, more of a glue guy with his versatility and experience.

Brooks Laich. Michael Nylander. Sergei Fedorov. Nicklas Backstrom. Viktor Kozlov. 5 guys that can play center that bring more offense than Reinprecht. We've got plenty of checking guys to cover that bottom wingers, and guyst hat can do both (like Fedorov and Laich as well as Chris Clark).

The place among their forwards that is weakest is goalscoring RWers, which is exactly what people hope Eric Fehr will be. Why trade from a position of weakness to improve a position of strength? It doesn't make sense.
