We need to find 120 goals, please

And I think we have it in the bag - - even with a "defense first" approach.

We scored 193 goals (worst in the NHL). A playoff team really needs to score about 240+(looking at historical stats). Last year, we had 16 people that scored more than 2 goals. We only had 5 guys in double figures. Gulp. We lost half of the top 16 guys and their 74 goals. That takes us to 119 goals. We need another 121. Is it realistic to think we can get to 240?

Hopefully: Nash adds 5 more. Modin adds 15. Peca adds 5. Brassard adds 10. New guys: Huselius (25), Umberger (20), Torres (15), Backman + Commodore + Tyutin (15). That’s 110, but you have to imagine that a couple of guys are going to get injured and/or disappoint.

Yes, the “less than 2 goals guys” added 14 goals, so really we need 226 from the top 16.

The good news is that we now have 5 + 3 guys that could/should score 20+ (Nash, Huselius, Modin, Umberger, Torres, + maybe Chimera, Peca and one of our young guys)

In a great year, I could see Nash with 50, Huselius with 30, Umberger with 30, Modin with 25, Torres with 20, Chimera with 20, and Brassard with 20.

This (above) COULD happen. There is goal scoring hope. Heading into last year, we were probably hoping for Nash (50), Z (30), Vyborny (25), Modin (25), Fedorov (20) and Peca (15).

Injuries happen, but I do not see anyone pulling a Vyborny.

I think we are very deep with secondary scoring. Add Boll, Manny (although probably the odd man out), Klesla - - - looking good overall I think.

I think we can average 3 goals per game and hit 246 because of depth and skill.

My top 10 this year:

Nash 45
Huselius 33
Umberger 30
Modin 25
Torres 19
Peca 18
Brassard 18
Chimera 17
Boll 14
Manny 12

Coach Noel would say we need TWO goals to win. So that's 164 goals.

I don't see any way this club is going to score 240+ goals. I like the changes to the roster, but I think that's a little ambitious. I still don't think we're even going to get 30 goals total from the D.

....or win every game in a shootout without a single statistical goal. Everyone knows how good we are in the shootout.

Don't discount the youngsters too much though. I see one of Brassard, Voracek or Filatov coming in and putting up some decent numbers. Please?

We could lose every game in a Shootout and finish with a team record in points for a season.

I think Hitch summed it up well.....we need to improve our goal differential by one point....period. Yes, I would like it on the offensive side, but it appears it will have to come to a certain extent from improved defensive play. Commodore+ Tyutin+ Backman> Foote+Hainsey. Klesla, Hejda, Methot and Russell should all be better with another year of seasoning.

If the addition of Huselius, Umberger, Torres isn't more productive than Zherdev and Fritsche I will be surprised. If one of three.....Brassard or Voracek or Filatov can make 15-20 goals this year, it will be icing on the cake.

Struggle for a playoff berth???? Yes, but compete????? You bet.

And do not forgot Modin and Torres must be right. But the type of their injury has tendency to return. Besides, I think if Raffi would be right he would not get a lot of points, maximum 15 goals +/- 2 g.

I'm not sure about Modin's injury reoccuring. Isn't the reason he was out for so long is because he was misdiagnosed, so thus reinjured?

I'm not sure about Torres. I think peoples' expectations of him are a bit too high. I would like to see Voracek make the club though, and with the recent media, I don't doubt he will.
