No Victor Hedman? or is this pretty much the swedish "B" team? I figured they'd want to give the A team guys as much tourny experience before the big christmas tournament

I guess a lot of the a team guys are tied up in the SEL preseason and that might improve them more than playing another u-20 tournament. hence giving some other guys to show what they're made of. I like it!

Interesting that Finland and Sweden are having another U20 tournament after Lake Placid. I think the US and Canada should have a similar set of games. I am sure something could be scheduled.

Cant´t remember when Finland had this many underage players in the U20 team. Probably the year when -82 and -83 born players were eligible and there were a lot of -83 born players on the team (Ruutu, Lehtonen, Koivu, Pitkänen etc.)
Studs of Finland's 2009 draft.

I'm very sad to see Haula slowing down... Good look at SSM next season.

I love how people say Kivisto is better than Manelius. Manelius is a tick, you can't get rid of him, can't get past him, can't score with him on you.. Very excited and I hope the Avalanche pick him up.

Joni Ortio is just a mystery still. Hey remember Jere Ringbom.. Yea that 4+gpg average is doing him real well

Rajala has pulled away from the pack though, he's gonna be a sick player in the NHL soon

I don't think Haula seems to be slowing down too much. He led the Fins in scoring at the Hlinka Tourney and while you can't tell much from stats, it's good to see that he was scoring on a game-to-game basis, against his peers and those older than him.

Yea but I'm starting to think once a player puts on a Team Finland jersey they automatically have amazing chemistry with their team mates (see: Finland 2006 Olympics; Finland 2007 Ivan Hlinka Tournament).

I think his SM-Liiga Jr Stats say a little differently:
2005-06 Assat JrC 2+2=4 in 4 games (good especially at 14 against 16 year olds)
2006-07 Assat JrB 19+24=43 in 29 games (excellent, started growing alot here)
2007-08 Assat JrA 7+15=22 in 40 games (slowed down terribly, Rajala had almost double in 7 games less)

He'll be at SSM next season so hopefully he gets noticed. I mean SSM is a step down from JrA/Sr league time he'll be getting. Maybe he's trying to assmilate. Maybe something went wrong in the SM-Liiga I don't know.

He's a very hard worker though.

No reason he wont.. He made the U20 team which in essence IS the WJC team.

There are really no good -89's/-90's standing in his way. In fact I'd say Pulkkinen, Manelius and possibly Granlund suit up for the WJC.

I'd expect Gaiduchenko, but these tournaments usually are used to view other players, I wouldn't be surprised if Nemchinov will play both goalies kinda equally

Skillwise yes. Already last season he would have been good enough to make team. Last season he had some injuries, this season started with injury problems. So it might be indication of problems in that apartment. And as addition seems like Team Finland have some kind of policy where you have to be old enough to make it to the team. That's why prolly Granlund and Pulkkinen won't even have chance to try in U-20. While in reality they both would have skills to at least try their best in U-20 team.

While I agree Haula not being close to Rajala in skillwise, his missing in this U-20 team have good reason. He just played with U-18 team and prolly flighting over and over between Europe and NA wouldn't be good for him(or Kivistö) so they won't be prolly get much of this kind of tournies in this season.

Our U-20 will be anyway not so great, so lets hope U-18 will do better this season. At least they should have potential to do it.

I doubt -92 will get any chances to even show their skills with U-20 team. Same as Rajala didn't last season. And -92 didn't get with U-18 team either.

Russia beat Finland 4-3 on a hat trick by Kiril Petrov. The fourth goal for Russia was scored by either Alexei Potapov or Pavel Chernov, depending on whether you ask the coaches or the event organizers.
