The fact that Korpedo isnt on there is really telling imho.

To me that means hes got a VERY good chance of making this club outta camp.

Was he even eligible?

And even if he is, I'm not sure what it means. Both Staal and Dubinsky played last year and they made the team.

Would love to see what a healthy Joe Barnes brings to the table.

you know, i think you may be right on the eligibility issue, i think you cant play for more than 2 years in this tourney, and im fairly sure Korpedo has played in each of the past 2 tourneys.

He also played a game in the NHL so I don't know if that would rule him out for the tournament.

Well, I think its safe to say we won't be winning the torny this year with that roster

And we're only bringing 5 defenseman? Usually they bring like 8-9.

Happy to see Grachev playing in it. I guess that little scare by Russia not allowing him to play in international tornaments for 3 years isn't going to scare him.

I think it means that they want him in camp with the big club instead of playing in traverse city...The combo of a late tournament AND an earlier training camp for the Rangers probably prevented some of the young players from playing in this tournament...If I were the Rangers i would've taken this year off from Traverse city so guys like Sanuginetti and Anisimov can practice with the Rangers in camp...by the time the tournament is over the preseason is about to begin...after that the team is preparing for the season to start.....

i take that as a good thing for korpikoski...

although the rangers roster for this tournament is pretty thin compared to past seasons...

I don't think they included the try out invite guys on there...they invited 4 defenseman to rookie camp so maybe someone out of that group including Messier's son.

I hope either Stich (6'2", 215) or Dowzak (6'5", 250) pan out. We could use a few more defensive defenseman prospects with good size. Anyone know anything about Messier's son?

Here's some more from Zipay:

Quote:
Dzemahin (a 22-year-old who played for Dynamo Minsk and Belarus in the 2007 IIHF Worlds with Denisov), Skokan, Taylor and Urquhart have AHL contracts.

The tryouts are Messier (6-1, 180), who was 5-12-17 in 46 games for the Lincoln Stars last season. He also has played for the Texas Tornado. Tysen Dowzak, 20, is a big (6-5, 225) Minnesota native and like David Stich, is a stay-at-home D. Stich (6-2, 215) is 19 and from Plsen in the Czech Republic. He played for the St. John Sea Dogs last season. Nick Pageau of the OHL Bellville Bulls (6-24-30 in 53 games) d another look after opening eyes in the post-draft development camp at the MSG Training Center. Matt Meropoulis (5-11, 190) is a 19-year-old right wing from Edmonton who played in the WHL.

I think people have been saying that about him for years. I was kinda surprised to see him on there at all.

I'm still hoping that his will be televised on NHL network....that'd be awesome!!!!!

Bruce Graham is no longer in the system. And Jessiman's going on his 4th year as a pro and therefore hardly qualifies as a prospect in terms of this tournament.

Dubinsky had played in 6 NHL games in 2006-7, and was still sent to Traverse City. Frankly, I'm not sure what this means for Korpikoski, although I still believe he's got a good shot to make the Rangers out of camp.

Main Training camp dates - anyone have them??

Team building trip... are they having one this season or is it basically substituted by the trip(s) to Europe?

Any info here?

What a ****ing disappointment, Bruce Graham. I'm not usually one to dwell on bad picks, but that draft was one I actually scouted beforehand, and I really wanted Booth. Oh well, can't be perfect all the time!

As someone else mentioned, I'm excited to see what Zaborsky brings. Grachev, as well, since I've never actually seen him play.

I agree, Graham had serious potential. Oh well, put him with the Lee Falaradeau as ECHL player that were drafted. I guess Joe Barnes took over as that project.

On the roster, previous years I think we have sent allot more kids, right? Atleast from what I remember we basically sat out good players every game, even in the finals. So that team will do well.

The game changed allot and no type of players where hit worse then big and slow D's and immobile centers.

For us it was even better then a zero-sum game. Guys like Dawes, Prucha and co benefitted tremendously from it. People are fast to forget; but before the lockout there basically wheren't any room for guys like Dawes and Prucha. Thoose guys very well might not have made the NHL if it wheren't for the changes.

On the other side of the coin is guys like Graham and Jake Taylor -- in a 2002 type of game it defenitly would have been easier for guys like that. We might have seen atleast Jessiman and Taylor in the NHL instead of Pck and Prucha.
