He has an absolute snipe from the right circle, go on youtube and check it. But i think if you had to describe him as a player... hm i think playmaker.

great at transition and scoring on the rush.....

good on both ends of the rink and works hard no matter what....

great snap/wrist shot, if he can find space, he will get a quality scoring chance from pretty much anywhere from 5 feet into the attacking zone to the goal line.....

Heres a good video of what to expect from Markus. I think Viper has it pretty much on the money.

Some of it is from his younger years but nevertheless its a good summation of what we will hopefully see.

Yeah, he was originally drafted by them. Good thing they traded him to the Canucks. We wouldn't need a winger like Naslund on a Malkin/Crosby line. Markus didn't really "bloom" until Vancouver.

Welcome to the Forum btw.

At least he seems to shoot the puck every time it's on his stick.

He certainly defines the sniper term. People are saying that his shot isn't what it used to be but I beg to differ. Their saying that mostly due to his lack of production in recent seasons, which stems from his line mates.

Hmm this reminds me of all the times in the last 10 years when we get someone new and see all this cool stuff they have done and then they end up blowing chunks here....

Though the last 2 guys (Bure, Jagr) didn't disappoint, maybe we can keep the streak going to 3.

He got married to the girl from Full House (no joke) had kids, then needed back surgery. He decided to retire and be with his family after the surgery. He makes wine now, again no joke.

Isn't she one of those evangelical Christian's? I know her brother is completely off the wall.

Not a shot at religion, the guy is just crazy.

As for Naslund, he should be quite capable on Gomez's wing. People say his shot has dropped off a bit, but he just needs time to get it off.

I'm excited about Naslund on Gomers wing, I think they'll play well together. Hopefully it doesn't end up the same way Jagr/Gomez did. Worse case scenario he ends up on Drury or Dubi's line. I'm sure he will mesh with someone. I think there is something to the Bertuzzi/Dubi comparison and how it may benefit Naslund.

As for the Full House girl and her brother...no idea? Wouldn't doubt it though.

From that video it looks like he loves to go to the backhand on the breakaway.

I'm pretty excited about him. He and Jagr scored the same number of goals last season(25). Unless he's got great line chemistry though I don't see his numbers jumping by much though. Despite all the talk of Vancouver being an offensively challenged team, they scored two more goals than the Rangers last season.

Also, I kind of imagine Naslund having really good chemistry with Dubi who can handle the puck and draw coverage to him while Naslund jets to the right circle unnoticed. (If it doesn't work out with Gomer for some reason)

Does Naslund still have wheels to make a Gomez/Naslund duo completely terrifying?

I like how he shoots a lot. Should make up for loosing Shanny, our shot leader last season.

Watching Youtube videos of Naslund is giving the wrong impression.

His wrist shot is no longer amazing, due to having bone chips removed from his elbow. Don't expect him to magically replicate the Youtube highlights, because he just doesn't play that way anymore.

He isn't a pure sniper anymore, but rather a mix between playmaker/sniper.

exactly.

im gonna watch old u tube vids of shanny and hope hes still that guy too. hes not.

having watched alot of vancouver games the past few seasons i can tell you hes a very intelligent player and more importantly, hes good around the crease but he has lost a step. the system he played in with vanc. was very defensive and the change to an uptempo skating style should suit him. yes hes not a kid anymore, but he can still skate and his shot is still very accurate. hes a heady player who will score goals for this team playing along side gomez and drury, no doubt.

and one more thing, he wore the c on his sweater. he along with drury have been captains. dont discount the value of leadership. hes gonna have a huge positive impact this year.

I don't think anyone sane here expects him to play like he did several years ago. As long as he can pot 25 goals again (and I think he can), then we are pretty much getting our money's worth.

He's pretty much a direct replacement for Shanny, though obvioiusly not as old
