I'm not sure if Boston has the necessary picks for such an offer sheet.

I interpreted the word "can" in it's proper meaning; are the Senators able to match the offer sheet? As I responded, that's true. I guess the poster wanted to know if they would, to which I have no answer.

Bryan Murray has been extremely reluctant to offer more than 3.0M annually to Mez. The rumored offer sheet is 2.0M on top of that!

If he matches it is purely out of spite.

I wouldn't do it if I were LA, I wouldn't match if I were Ottawa either. I am very curious to know what team it is, probably a team with a super stocked farm, whoever that is. A litte upsurd for Mez, but so are a lot of contracts these days...

5+ million and Meszaros becomes one of the most overpaid players in the league.

Good luck to the team that gets him, as you're getting a guy who does have a lot of potential, but he has regressed every year since his rookie season...

exactly..

Mezaros is not worth anywhere near 5 million.
Murray better take the picks and run like hell..

Offer sheets usually are absurd....otherwise they a would be quickly matched.

More like take the picks and ***** like hell. He's not going to be happy losing a player even if the other GM was an idiot for offering that much.

I don't think its the Blues, even though a puck mover like Meszaros would be a nice addition to the team. Someone did post on the Senators board that Tampa was the team who made the offer. We'll see if that comes to fruition.

I'd be thrilled if it were Phoenix. I doubt it is, because Maloney seems way to accomodating for such a thing, but I totally think it'd be worth it. 5yrs, 25m, 1st, 2nd, 3rd is worth it, IMO. Meszaros is one hell of a defenseman. I'd love for him to replace Jovo on our top pairing with Michalek, down the road, sometime.

on the other hand.. Mez > a 1st + 2nd + 3rd unless the 1st is a top 5 pick.
In a way its a lose lose for both teams..

It can't be TB they traded their 3rd round pick in 2009 to Pittsburgh for Malone and Roberts.

As much as a young stud d-man like Meszaros coming to LA makes complete sense, I don't think it's LA. Lombardi wouldn't give up two firsts, a second, and a third for any defenseman in the league save Nickla Lidstrom. The man loves his draft picks.

Unless it's the pile of firsts going the other way.

Wow

a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd for Meszaros

IF it's indeed a 5 mill deal, there is no way in hell that BM matches that
