I doubt it's 2 1st rounders. The GM probably put it at 5.2, for 1st, 2nd, 3rd.

so we have to figure out three things....

1) Who has the sufficient cap space?
2) Who has the required draft picks?
3) Who really needs a puck moving defenseman that badly?

Once you figure out those three questions you probably have about 3 or 4 teams to choose from.

Ottawa is. I don't like our D if Mez leaves, I think Murray signs this awful contract.

I don't think you guys really need to overpay and give up a 1st 2nd and 3rd rounder to get a puck moving defenseman.

So yes I'll be surprised if its the Nucks.

it isn't the Kings... they don't have their 2009 3rd rounder.

Murray should have signed him up last season, this is the "new " nhl and their are some weasels out there who do this..

now that i think about it, it must be a team that is very desparate to make a playoff push and has a fair amount of cap space left and solid prospects in their farm....Columbus anyone??

Really what choice does he have?

If it's 5.2 he lets Mesz go for the picks.

Phillips - Volchenkov
Lee - Smith
Schubert - Nylohat/Bell

That defense is pathetic, I doubt they combine for 100 points total.

And I don't think there are GMs who are just going to give the Sens a puck moving defenseman as the Sens become desperate the asking price will inflate.

No win for the Sens right now.

I believe its Phoenix, lots of cap space, someone to build their defense around, stock-piled talent over the years and could be ready to challenge

A 1st, 2nd and 3rd is way more than the Sens would get if they signed Meszaros and then tried to trade him away in 2-3 years when it is finally clear that Meszaros isn't worth it. I don't think Meszaros does crack, but I think he has the hockey-smarts of a crack-head.

How? Paying $5 million for Mez would be a pretty ridiculous move by Murray.

We can work the cap space. Our defense is pathetically bad at moving the puck. We can move players for a 2nd round.

Shock tactics.
