I believe its Phoenix, lots of cap space, someone to build their defense around, stock-piled talent over the years and could be ready to challenge
Yeah but Don Maloney is like that sweet old grandpa that would always bring you a present when he visited. He's more likely to mess your hair and give you some candy. I can't see him getting involved in this offer-sheet business. He seems way too old school for that. Christ, I'm shocked I've never seen the man wearing a sweater vest. He's like Mr. Rogers, if Mr. Rogers played defense.
Wow. Ottawa is in a pickle if this is true. Sure the picks would be nice, but they need Meszaros' skill set desperately right now. And it's not like you can just find a replacement for much cheaper (the only guy I can think of that can bring that puck moving ability is Schneider and he makes 5.625 M). I wouldn't want to be in Murray's shoes trying to make this decision.
If I didn't miss anything, the following teams do NOT have the necessary own draft picks to make the offer sheet if it is indeed a 1st, 2nd and 3rd:
Anaheim (no 2nd)
Buffalo (no 2nd, no 3rd)
Calgary (no 2nd, no 3rd)
Los Angeles (no 3rd)
Minnesota (no 2nd)
Montreal (no 2nd)
Philadelphia (no 2nd, no 3rd)
San Jose (no 1st)
Tampa Bay (no 3rd)
Toronto (no 2nd)

Reason: added Tampa
Toronto maybe ?!? He wouldn't have to move. They are dropping McCabe
Florida was my first thought and Toronto my next! Toronto could hang onto Mccabe and have a pretty good defence going into the season and then depending on how the season unfolds, as injuries crop up with other teams, etc could be in a pretty good position ... assuming of course Mccabe and/or Kubina have had enouph and would be willing to jump ship by then!!
