That defense is pathetic, I doubt they combine for 100 points total.

And I don't think there are GMs who are just going to give the Sens a puck moving defenseman as they become desperate the asking price will inflate.

No win for the Sens right now.
Bieksa for Vermette perhaps??

Ottawa can then sign Parrish and they've got more then enough draft picks to trade away for another top 6 forward if needed.

There is no way that the Sens make the playoffs with that defense and Gerber in net.

Yeah but Don Maloney is like that sweet old grandpa that would always bring you a present when he visited. He's more likely to mess your hair and give you some candy. I can't see him getting involved in this offer-sheet business. He seems way too old school for that. Christ, I'm shocked I've never seen the man wearing a sweater vest. He's like Mr. Rogers, if Mr. Rogers played defense.

Could be Atlanta, they have nothing back there.

Columbus perhaps. Maybe the Islanders?

Why? I don't see how Tampa has the space or why they'd do this. Then again there haven't been any moves in a few weeks, maybe Koules & Barrie got bored.

Maybe they want to be to defensemen what Tampa Bay is to forwards.

Wow. Ottawa is in a pickle if this is true. Sure the picks would be nice, but they need Meszaros' skill set desperately right now. And it's not like you can just find a replacement for much cheaper (the only guy I can think of that can bring that puck moving ability is Schneider and he makes 5.625 M). I wouldn't want to be in Murray's shoes trying to make this decision.

I am dying to find out which team it is.

No. They don't have to make Offer Sheets.

If I didn't miss anything, the following teams do NOT have the necessary own draft picks to make the offer sheet if it is indeed a 1st, 2nd and 3rd:

Anaheim (no 2nd)
Buffalo (no 2nd, no 3rd)
Calgary (no 2nd, no 3rd)
Los Angeles (no 3rd)
Minnesota (no 2nd)
Montreal (no 2nd)
Philadelphia (no 2nd, no 3rd)
San Jose (no 1st)
Tampa Bay (no 3rd)
Toronto (no 2nd)

Funny .... I advocated on the wings board in June that we should give Mezzy an offer sheet instead of signing Stuart .... but I assumed 3.5-4.0 mill would get it done.

I have no issues at all in giving up a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. It's the 5+ mill that could get steep.

I know you may think this would be horrible for Sens fans but look at my face

We could possibly get two firsts, a 2nd and a 3rd round pick for Meszaros

Do not sign it Murray, that would be horrible

I don't see Atlanta giving up a potential top 3 pick for Meszaros.

Florida was my first thought and Toronto my next! Toronto could hang onto Mccabe and have a pretty good defence going into the season and then depending on how the season unfolds, as injuries crop up with other teams, etc could be in a pretty good position ... assuming of course Mccabe and/or Kubina have had enouph and would be willing to jump ship by then!!

Snow isnt dumb enought to trade away Tavares/Hedman+ for Mez. Atlanta there still a lottery team IMO. columbus maybe. my money is on the Canucks.

I would think so. They currently have just over $3 million in available cap space. Isn't it rumored that the offer sheet was for much more than that?

My money is on Columbus or Vancouver. Both have the cap space, and Columbus REALLY need a power play QB and would probably be willing to overpay for one.
