Meszaros is soft and suspect on defense. He's a bit like a young Patrice Brisebois. In other words, I sure hope we're not giving out a big contract and many picks to get him.

I'm sure it's one of thee teams that's under the cap floor. Atlanta maybe?
Mind you, if it's Atlanta, the Sens should just let him go and take that awsome first pick!

Brutal overpayment. That GM needs to be shot instantly.

Edit: So it seems like it would be a first, second and a third for 5 million bucks. My above statement still stands.

So he could be offered 5,231,248 and it'd only cost a 1st,2nd and a 3rd.

One team that badly needs defense is Philadelphia; i wouldnt be surprised learning he signed with them.

Yup, and you lose respect in the league, so other GMs won't be shy about signing our own RFA... that's the worst part IMO.

Atlanta is possible. Havelid and Klee are up after this year, and super-prospect Ilya Nikulin said "nyet" to the Thrashers for the second time.

I'm with you. Rather spend money on Komi then another early 20 something player.

ya right....at an average salary over 5 million...the other team can keep him

I would rather keep Komisarek instead of having to have him walk...which is exactly the result of signing this guy would be

Phoenix. They got a hole at D, and they have been stock piling picks for sometime, resulting in alot of young players. With Mez, they could have some defensive depth and add another body to their young core.

If was an Ottawa fan, I'd be doing summersaults. Getting an almost guaranteed top 5 pick?

They have a horrible team and Lehtonen can't stay healthy. Dan Waddel destroyed that team with Tkachuk and Zhitnik. The Hossa deal wasn't that great either.

Philly can't afford to hand out a $5 million contract. Their defence is fine too with Coburn eating a lot of minutes I'm sure next year, same with Timonen. Lots of serviceable players.
