Weirdest thing is that all reports say that he is a very good teammate... And he always finds a good role on his teams... Why the heck is he always traded? Such a wanted commodity?

That's kind of what I figured. He's in the limbo of being a player that other teams want, but not quite the kind of player that you're not going to trade. It's kind of looking like he'll be traded again come February, although I really hope we hang on to the guy.

Pretty much what I'm thinking. Enough value to bring back something substantial in a trade, but he's not a crucial/key component to a team's success.

I was disappointed when the Blues traded him in 06, he was my favorite player on that team. Didn't get much back for him either.

Okay so here's the answer:
There are 5 teams in the last 20 years that had ZERO players that once played alongside Mike Sillinger:
2008 Stars
2008 Canadiens
2006 Sabres
2001 Sharks
1990 North Stars

So to find a player that has never played with someone who has had Sillinger as a teammate, you just got to find someone who only played for one of those teams for example Sergei Kostitsyn but that will probably change as he plays with someone on the 2009 roster (for example Peter Lappin would have worked but he decided to come back a few years later and play 1 game with the 92 Sharks, thus playing with Pat Falloon who played with Sillinger on the 99 Flyers). But I'm pretty sure Mario Thyer would classify as a player who has never played with a player who played with Sillinger (unless you count IHL because then he played with Marc Bureau on the Kalamazoo Wings who played with Sillinger on the Flyers as well). Here you can check it out yourself, this is the file that I made to illiminate teams:
http://company0821.angelfire.com/sillinger.doc

Let's just say that if playing with Mike Sillinger could give you a contageous STD, the entire league would be infected.

Mark Streit will eliminate the 2007-88 Canadiens once the season starts, however the 2008-09 Canadiens and Kings are in trouble right now, while the 2008-09 Stars depends on if Landon Wilson plays a with the farm team or makes the big league.

if there is an injury to a goalie, Marc Denis will come and the habs will still have their circle complete

I think you mean Yann Denis?
He might be their backup some time this season, not just for injuries.

Danis might work for some of the Habs youngsters too, if he gets some time with the Islanders in case of a DiPietro injury. Not sure how many of them are compatible with Danis though..

And Marc Denis will close the circle for the next few years in the habs case since he'll play with the kids in Hamilton. Which means players like Subban, Weber, Valatenko, etc will be 2nd degree to Sillinger without even playing an NHL game. Unless we only count in NHL games? I'm still wondering if this is a rule or not.

http://oracleofbacon.org uses the imdb to put together the path for any two actors/resses. There's a brief rundown of how the program works. Maybe if anyone has the skill, time, and inclination they could put together The Oracle of Sillinger using hockeydb.

Quickest I can think of is that he'll play with Redden who played with Sillinger in 00-01. Prucha also played with Paul Mara, who played with Sillinger in 03-04.
