I wouldn't want to take on Schneider's contract unless Dandenault was going to Anaheim as part of the the deal.

I say let him retire then.

He might sing a different tune if the Anaheim option dissappeared.

Though in all likelihood if Burke cannot find a trading partner he will place someone on waivers or buy someone out.

Either option works for me as I am not much of a fan of any GM who puts their team over the Salary Cap.

We want to be a contender for PLAYOFFS, not just a good regular season team.

I say NO to Havlat and Nylander (Nyland's good for hockey pools only!).

I'm hoping for something big (one example: Sundin, and if it's not Sundin, then hoepfully something close or as good as him...Forward or Dman...someone who will make a huuuuuge impact...I don't see Havlat or Nylander taking us to the next level). Hopefully we don't have to lose Pacioretty or McDonagh to get that impact player (ex: when Gainey traded Iginla for Nieuwendyk, although the Stars did win the Cup so it was a smart move...)

You do not see Havlat taking this team to the next level? He could easily score 50 goals if he stayed healthy. His style of play fits this team perfectly. The best part of it is he would not cost much to get. Blackhawks are over the cap and they have moved on without him as Toews and Kane are the go-to guys now.

Yes he gets hurt a lot, but the Habs have enough offence to patch things up while he's out. When he's healthy the Habs have one of the most dangerous players in the league and can be a 300 goal team.

If he was a center, sure.. but if we acquire him, what are we going to do, we're going to move a top 6 forward, who's already in the top 9, down onto the fourth line.

Looks like Teemu coming back to Anaheim is 100% sure (check the trade rumors board). Schneider has gotta go without a doubt now. If Gainey wants him, and most importantly is ready to move away from the Sundin chase, Schneider as a Hab is very possible. Ottawa looked like a possible destination if Meszaros got offer sheet'ed but now with Kuba and Picard representing nearly 4M on the cap, it ain't happening.

Dunno if it's been posted already but...

Direct quotes: "I'm mentally ready to return, Ducks are currently making room for me (salary-wise)"

"Ducks' training camp starts on september 11th, we need to sign the contract before that"

Selanne also said he will return to States on sunday because his kids' schools starts soon.

He has been practising daily with other finnish players and he says "I'm in good shape, even better than in earlier years at this time, the break I took last season helped a lot"

He also adds that he has been considering retirement every year for the last six years but it's too hard to retire because he enjoys the game so much.

Schneider is officially on his way out now. And not at sticker price.

Those are the numbers of games he played in the past three season. You can't give up valuable assets for a guy that won't play all that much because of injuries and who will most likely leave at the end of the year as a UFA because we won't have the money to re-sign everyone...

Sure he's a dangerous player, but last year, we had a great season because of team chemistry. If he's always one and off the ice, it can't be good.

Well I do want Andrei Kostitsyn on the RW, but if it ain't broke, why fix it?

AK - Plekanec - Kovy
Tanguay - Koivu - Havlat
Higgins - Chips - SK

I guess Guidoune gets the shaft unless SK goes centre and Gui RW on that line with Chips centering the 4th. Either/or it's a good problem to have mulling over the position of players on the depth chart because you have too many good ones.

Well you're more than likely not giving anything of value since they want to get rid of him and his contract. I don't care if he plays 20 games in the year, if he's healthy for the playoffs then it's worth it. But we can't guarantee that.

So a fourth line of Laraque-Lapierre-Latendresse

Kostopolous spare forward, Begin, Dandenault cut.

Watch them trade Marchant, Neidermayer and Pahlsson instead of Schneider

A team that banks on Havlat is a team in trouble, no thanks...damaged goods!

No one would bank on Havlat. He'd be a cheap asset to acquire due to injury history and Chicago over the cap. I'd be willing to trade D'Agostini and a pick for him in a second, if we'd have a line-up like this for the play-offs.

Tanguay-Plekanec-Kovalev
Havlat-Koivu-A. Kostitsyn
Higgins-Chipchura-S. Kostitsyn
Latendresse-Lapierre-Laraque.

Threats on every line.

Havlet isn't nearly enough for the team, his cap hit can be better spent on the D...no thanks, his never proven to be a winner in his whole career.

Mathieu Schneider? I'd be afraid that the blast from the past would turn out to be nothing more than a loud fart.

i think he'd be very hamrlik-like on our blueline. good calm vet who can play 2-way and be solid all-around.
