Draft: Nightmare Scenario

In a post below, I tried to realistically project the types of players we would take.
Schultz is a huge Western Canadian that I would expect to be high on Sather's list. Fransson is a Swede that I could see our top scout Rockerstrom? (sp) falling for.
So on and so forth.

Here's a nightmare scenario though:
Sather decides to TRADE MULTIPLE draft picks to move up only a few slots.
Does anyone see how this could be possible?...

We'll be just a few selections into Round 2 when all of a sudden
"We have a trade"
Rangers trade #37, #46, #52 for #31 and #148

After, Sather declares the deal to be "genius" because he "got a player they didn't think would be on the board"

This scenario would KILL us.
To have 2 1sts and 5nds...this doesn't happen too often.
We better make it count.

i have a serious question

would you trade every pick you have in this years draft, including your number sixth overall pick, to the caps for the first overall pick?

No.

Exhibit A: Lindros to Philly trade.

Exhibit B: Saints trade every pick for rights to draft Ricky Williams.

AO is still only one player, no matter how good and the Rags have too many holes to fill to put all our eggs in one basket.

Late first + early second for the 12th if Radulov, Stafford, Thelen and Schremp don't fall

history has proven betting the farm on a player almost never works.

You gotta explore all potential trades, but the Draft is like the automobile show at your local convention center.

Some of the cars look nice, but they are made out of tin. Some of the cars look fast, but they'd fall apart on a speed bump. Many of the cars you see, will never see the light of day and those who do are still a few years off and will undergo many changes before they get there.

Self control is a trait best learned for Drafting.

I don't think that'll get it done. Any team bold enough to make a trade for either the 1st or 2nd spot, is definitely going to overpay. There's a lot of hype over Ovechkin and Malkin, so the bounty will be costly.

vega007, I find your avator very insulting, Gareth Keenan is possibly the ugliest man I have ever seen in my life

Seriously thought the Office is brilliant, I heard it drew some attention across the pond which is unusual.

I think sather wil keep the 6th and try to use the rest to move up into the teens. Maybe the 24th and 36th for the 17 or something. I am sure Sather will make atleast a few changes.

When I saw the topic about a draft nightmare, I immediatley thought about my personal draft nightmare: Ladd, Olez and Barker all off the board at #6!!

Tukonen isn't a nightmare, trust me. My nightmare is sather drafts Montoya or Stafford with the #6. Good kids, and Montoya is a heck of a goalie, but not at #6 and not with this teams needs. Ya i know BPA, BPA B-FRICKEN-PA, but our needs are so strong in other areas they outweigh the BPA, especially in the goalie situation

Thank god you don't work in the industry because that probably would have been the end of any job interview right there.....
