Brendan Shanahan to Anaheim?

From the NY Post

"The most interesting of which might be the opportunity for the 39-year-old winger to move west and join the Ducks. It is believed that Anaheim general manager Brian Burke reached out last week to Shanahan, the Rangers' third-leading goal-scorer with 23 last season behind 25-goal-scoring co-leaders Jaromir Jagr and Chris Drury ."

BLUES, DEVILS, AND FLYERS ARE BELIEVED TO HAVE INTEREST IN SHANAHAN ASWELL

Is this their solution to scoring woes?

Shanny is not going to leave NYC unless there is absolutely no way that he can do something for the team. If he does go to another team, someplace as far as Anaheim doesn't seem likely since he probably wants to keep his family in NY and be with them as much as possible. But who knows?

He can still be a really good 3rd line, 2nd unit pp guy.

I wouldn't give him more than 2.5-3M for one season.

With the right linemates, the guy can score 30-35 goals

that's not saying much. with the right linemates, I could score 30-35 goals too

that said, shanahan is no longer a top-line contributor, but he can be the necessary veteran leadership and a stabilizer for a team's forward corps. if the flyers end up trading knuble, i'd be all over signing shanny.

Shanny wont leave NYC. He also said he has no intrest in NJ or Flyers. He said he is staying at his home in NYC and his kids are staying in a private school there.

Wherever Shanahan goes he'll provide solid leadership.

More than Schneider would have to move I think to fit both Teemu and Shanny in. Any possibility Burke would waive someone like Marchant (does he have just a NTC, or is it a NMC though which would prevent that?) if he has not takers?

If I was the Kings I'd take Schneider and Marchant but the Ducks would have to throw in a nice pick just for taking Marchant.

I don't even think that is enough. Goodbye Rob/Moen? They make enough money that they could pay Shanny's salary. I haven't done the cap numbers though.

I like how Rags fans are talking about Shanahan like he's been a Ranger for 15 years....

If the man has other options, I'm sure he's going to explore them. Rags fans seem to think that he won't choose another team over them...

I agree.

I also think that the devils are out of the question. We have a log jam at forward, and if we are going to spend cap space, it will be on a defenseman.

he has come out and said his family is stayin in manhattan pretty much no matter what so his kids can stay in the school they are in so wherever else he would decide to go they would be staying in the city....he has said before that NY is his main place to play for next year and that if the rangers dont want him then he would seriously consider retirement

but hey, who knows, maybe a bunch of debbie fans would know more about a player on the rangers than rangers fans

do not think Flyers have any interest in Shanny, well maybe if we trade Upshall and Jones plus a draft pick for #3 d-men. I would like to see Downie and Giroux getting some ice time instead of Shanny. NYR can keep him.

Maybe if he wants to take the league minimum, he's a LW right? I wonder if Burke is looking at having to trade Kunitz..

Do you have any idea what you're talking about? It's not about the years. It's about how comfortable he has become in NY. His kid is going to private school in New York City, and he would absolutely take a pay cut to play here. If the Rangers do not want him will he seek other places? Sure, but until the Rangers tell him they're moving on he isn't even going to consider playing elsewhere.
