Worst Habs' playoff loss you can remember?

I got this idea from the Devils boards.

What was the worst Canadiens' playoff loss you recall?

Yeah same, everything went wrong, it was really frustrating. I didnt like vs Carolina when Koivu got injured either as we had good momentum till the incident.

I'm born in 89 so late in 90' we didnt make the playoff alot and early in 2000 I was just happy they found a way to make the playoff to be disapointed after a 2nd round exit.

The lost to Tampa in 04 was embarrasing. After a crazy race to the playoffs and beating the 2nd seeded Bruins in 7 games the team was empty.

Date Away Home OT Score
April 23 Montreal Tampa Bay 4 – 0
April 25 Montreal Tampa Bay 3 – 1
April 27 Tampa Bay Montreal OT 4 – 3
April 29 Tampa Bay Montreal 3 – 1

I say game 4 against carolina in 2002. Jose Theodore was in some sick kind of zone and we really did look like a team of destiny that year, until Therrien took his stupid penalty for yelling at fraser and the entire team literally quit on their coach in mid game. The popular thing to do is to blame Theodore for falling apart, but the realistic thing to do is realzie the team quit on their coach.

That series was so heartbreaking. We win the first two games in Carolina, then that horrific game 3 incident...

Carolina 2002 for sure. We would have been up 3-1 in the series and almost surely passed to the east finals against toronto..

Game 6 against Carolina in 2002. they lost 8-2. after the first period the score was 5-1, i was at that game and it was the worest game i have been to. That was also the game that Doug Gilmour was sent to the penlaty box and when he slammed the door the glass broke. That was cool.

1st Round Exit to Carolina in '06

...for sure!!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMN1e...eature=related

This Carolina-tribute to the series gets me fired up (what doesn't kill you makes you stronger)... I especially hate the 4:20 part of the video... damn Rivet and his errant stick!!! Huet had no chance... If not for Craig, who knows what wouldv'e happened (I guess you could say a lot of "what if's" in this series -- however it's in the past now)

I remember just sitting there in disbelief... my young daughter having to console me...

Damn Justin Williams and HIS errant stick, too... Arrrrggghhh!!

All Habs fans should watch this (and so should the players) to get motivated for the season...

The one that Kovalev turned around and lead us back from a 3-1 deficit to win the series, yeah, that one was terrible.

Many of the above were pretty bad...just to throw another one out there the '89 Finals loss to Flames hit me pretty hard

Wow, at the 2:02 mark, Souray's, ahem, "defense" was outstanding.

Oh yeah, that sucked big time, I lived in Alberta at the time, got some beatings at school for wearing Habs gear, but they didn't hurt as much as the cup loss. Not to mention it was the first time anyone but Montreal won the cup in the forum. To this day I hate Calgary like I do the Bruins and Leafs.

'06 was bad, but it didn't have that "... no way" look to me like '02.

How about any of the losses vs. Philly this past season?

We couldn't bury a ****in' chance and Philly got the most ridiculous, obscene bounces.

The 8-2 game six loss to Carolina in '02 was horrible to watch. 3 of the 5 first period goals seemed to be flukes that took crazy seeing-eye routes into the net.

But the loss to Minnesota in the semi in 1980 was worse for me. It was such a shock after winning 4 straight Stanley Cups with a legendary team. I still remember Doug Jarvis being interviewed in the dressing room after the loss. It was his 5th year in the league and the first time he had experienced losing a series.

I missed that game, but I was so happy once I got home to learn that the Habs had lost. (Fiset FTW~!)

That was then. I was a lost soul.

Then came 2006. I was crushed.

Wow.. someone takes something to heart way too easily.

The Souray/Kovalev incident was the worst playoff loss I ever witnessed.. may be different for other people, but for me, that was it. I remember that moment and how heartbroken I was.
