I have a feeling Tanguay will set a career high in goals if he plays with Kovalev and gets lots of PP time.

He has played most of his career with elite snipers like Iginla and Hejduk which has made him focus on his playmaking moreso than his goalscoring, as good as Kostitsyn was with Kovy last year he still missed quite a few chances (which is expected as he is a natural RW) so I honestly won't be surprised if Tanguay leads the team in goals this year if he has Kovalev and Plekanec setting him up.

Surprised to see Pleks so low in the voting, given that he'll most likely be centring at least one of the 2 guys who are leading. That said, I'm joining TheDamned on team Kovalev.

That just means he'll rack up the assists.

What's the problem with that? Are they giving 2 pts for goals this year?

Forsberg is a sniper? Kovalev is a playmaker? I'm confused here.

But still, Pleks WAS 2nd on the team last year (6 behind the wonder-locked one), so I am still a little surprised. A little. Less than before. But still.

I still think Plekanec will get 30 this season, but somebody will get more easily.

My bet is on Kovalev.

My prediction for the 2008-2009 season; Kovy sets a career high for goals.

nice to see people here have so much faith in AKos. But I went with an almost sure pick in my mind: Tanguay. He's got so much to prove in his hometown while playing with players who compliment his playing style, unlike Calgary. He's a playmaker, but I think he'll be putting up a lot of goals (I'm guessing 35).

Seems we all have alot of faith in A.Kost. I voted for him myself, let's hope we are right.

I too am shocked Plekanec's not getting any love, did score 29 last year. It's pretty awesome that we had Kovalev, Plekanec, Higgins, and A.Kost all over 25 goals. Tanguay could potentially join that group this season as well.. Barring injuries, all four of those guys should easily score 25.

Koivu could get to 25 also, plus Lats could reach 20 as Sergei could.
