He apparently shrunk too? He was listed as 6'1" when he was drafted.

On the Omsk web site he's still listed as 5'9" 172lbs.

He scored in today's Four Nations Tournament game vs. the Czech Republic, btw. Russia lost and finished 2nd in the tournament to the Czechs.

I thought 200 lbs was 90 kg's, so 88 kg's ought to be around 195 lbs -- right?

Besides, Cherepanov isn't up to 88 kg's in the picture I've seen of him this summer. He can be closer to that then his previous listenings, like maybe 84-86 kg's (like 185-190 lbs), but not 88 kg's.

Kundratek is at Tigers camp, but unable to skate with the team as of yet due to a paperwork hold up.

On Kundratek: I'm excited. I'm obviously not expecting a future HOF career out of the kid, but he seems like a good pick where we took him. Hopefully he pans out for us.

Jess over at Prospect Park has updates on CHL prospects as they begin their exhibition season.

Quote:
Dale Wiese (Swift Current)

Wiese had a goal and an assist as his Swift Current Broncos defeated the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-3 in the opening game for both teams in the Edmonton Oil King's tournament on Saturday evening. According to sources Wiese looked very solid at both ends of the ice and appears to be very ready for the Ranger's Traverse City camp.
Quote:
Tysen Dowzak (Kelowna Rockets)

The first thing people are going to see when they look at Dowzak is how huge he is at 6'5 225. Dowzak it is safe to say is not being invited to the Traverse City camp because of his offensive skills.

What really stood out about Dowzak was the turn around that he had with his plus/minus as Dowzak was -24 during the 2006-07 season to a +29 last season.

Grachev arrived in Brampton on Friday.

Quote:
Grachev, who turned 18 on Feb. 21, arrived from New York, where he trained with the National Hockey League’s New York Rangers for several weeks. A third-round pick of the Rangers in the NHL Entry Draft in June, he was tabbed four days later by the Battalion in the Canadian Hockey League’s Import Draft.

“The guys were good,” said the six-foot-three, 202-pound Grachev, who scored for Team Green in an intrasquad game. “It’s a nice arena. I felt comfortable. I didn’t think I played too badly. I had a lot of shots but only got one goal.”

Head coach Stan Butler was happy to get Grachev into camp, which opened Wednesday.

“We need to get him acclimatized,” said Butler. “He has to get more comfortable with the language, he needs to learn the style of play in our league and he needs to get used to the guys on the team.”

Grachev is to leave Sept. 10 for New York’s prospects camp at Traverse City, Mich.

Looks like the decision Renney mentioned regarding whether he's better off on the wing or at center has been made, because he played wing in both Brampton's intra-squad game on Friday, and their first exhibition game on Saturday (he scored a goal in the intrasquad game, and was scoreless in the exhibition game).

Well, maybe the decision hasn't been made, because he played center in today's game vs. Kitchener.

Cherepanov has groin problems and will miss today's game. But he is expected to play on 07/09. Avangard blames heavy work-load in junior Team Russia/

A very nice update on the Battleship from Prospect Park:

Quote:
With each passing game that Grachev is showing us that the Rangers just might have the steal of the 2008 Entry Draft.

We are already on the search for a nickname for this 6'3 210 man child playing for the Brampton Battalion. Grachev in his 3rd exhibition game finally broke though with a goal and assist during the Battalions 6-4 win over Guelph Storm on Thursday evening.

However to us the key has to be that Grachev's best future is not at center but on the wing which is ideal for a possible power forward.

The thought of seeing Grachev barreling down on an unsuspecting defender on the forecheck is just making us wish the OHL regular season would get here.

Not good news at all. According to Squishy's blog Cherepanov missed last night's game for Omsk with a groin injury and has been sent down to their farm team.
Quote:
It appears there may be more to Alexei Cherepanov’s groin injury than first thought. Sport-Express is reporting that the 19-year old forward has been assigned to Avangard Omsk’s farm team. In his place Omsk has called up 23-year old Anton Malyshev.

Incorrect information Malyshev was in Omsk roster in first match. Or maybe Sport-express right and they send Malyshev after he scored goal against Ak Bars.
