Preds/Coyote Proposal

I'm more interested in what Pred fans think than D Milbury, so per Rt's post on the main trade proposal board (please respond here & not on the main Trade proposal board):

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=547878

So there is the original proposal:

To NAS:
Steve Reinprecht
PHX '09 3rd round pick

To PHX:
Scott Nichol
Kevin Klein

and then a modified one:

To NAS:
Steve Reinprecht
PHX '09 3rd round pick

To PHX:
Scott Nichol
De Vries or Zanon

Or if the Coyotes change the 3rd to a 2nd in the original proposal is that enough to get Klein in the deal?

I think the Predators would make the second trade. They would pass on the first. Free DeVries salary opens up a spot for Klein every day, and it would also allow more financial flexibility in regards to adding to the lineup...

Yep. We can also still sign Parrish, keep Jones and Hörnqvist up, send Peverley back to Milwaukee and make a move for an upgrade at #3C over Bonk at the deadline.

Dumont-Arnott-Jones
Erat-Legwand-Hörnqvist
Reinprecht-Bonk-Parrish
Fiddler-Smithson-Tootoo
Ortmeyer, Gratton

That is assuming, of course, that the youngsters play up to their potential.

Weber/Suter-Hamhuis
Weber/Suter-Klein
Koistinen-Zanon/Sulzer

The forward corps is deeper, the defense is more balanced and we're poised to make the playoffs again this year.

You might want to call up Peverly just for Coyote games...In 3 games he had 2g, 2a, was +4 and you went 2-0-1 against us. 40% of his pts against the coyotes and the +4 matched his season ending +/-

What pairing was DeVries on & who was he typically paired with?

From a cap standpoint I think this deal with DeVries as opposed to Zanon would work.

Cap hit is close (for 2 teams who would like to stay near the minimum):

Rhino ($2M)
vs
DeVries($2.5M) & Nichol ($.75M)

all players UFA's the following season.

DeVries was commonly paired with Hamhuis as the shut-down defensive pairing and also played major penalty-kill minutes.

So Reinprecht for de Vries and Nichol would be generally well recieved here?

Doesn't a player have to pass a physical before he's traded? No way Ortmeyer would be cleared to play, he's probably about to go on blood thinners.

I don't think he has to pass a physical. There just has to be full disclosure and the receiving team gets to examine him before the trade.
A player can't be put on waivers while injured.

I'm pretty sure you can't be traded while on IR

I'd prefer it if you didn't. Would just plain Reinprecht for Nichol and De Vries without the Ortmeyer work for you, though?

No, not really. I don't see Reinprecht as valuable enough to take 2 roster players to be honest. As much as I loathe DeVries on this team, management likes his presence....adding Nichol just isn't going to happen (Trotz has a mancrush on him).
