Think about it the other way around. Maybe he only has had 4 games because he has never stepped up.

That's a maybe that comes with no basis. His numbers are solid at the AHL level. If given a chance I think we could expect something similar to what we got out of Baumer circa 05-06.

I must say I liked Shannon, and It's sad to see him go...

but Nycholat will hopefully be a good addition for the moose and maybe the Nucks

Don't forget Baumer is still with us....another clone D man.

This is depth for a trade sometime this week.

This is an AHL move that should be mentioned off-hand with the likes of Cullen. Baumgartner was a pretty successful defenseman at the minor level that had a veteran role on the Moose, which was one of the biggest reasons why the Canucks kept him down there in fear of being picked up on re-call waivers. Nycholat is a serviceable defenseman, but we have much better options with Davison and Baumgartner. He's a career minor leaguer, vis-a-vis Jesse Schultz.

Take my word for it, Krajicek's job is not in danger, nor is it a prelude to something bigger.

Just to clarify, even on a two way contract, Nycholat would still have to pass through waivers, where the Sens, should they need him can pick him up again, right? I suppose that the same goes for Shannon.

Nycholat has played for Washington and played i believe 18 games two years ago in the NHL.

Yup. Don't get why no one else has really noticed that about him.

it's a depth move for the moose to have a competitive team. i think the history of injuries from last year also left the moose depleted on D when players were called up so that's why they're shoring up the D-men.

Pauser, could you do us all a favour and run Shannon and Nycholat's career numbers through the same mathematical formula you used to conclude Pat white's career is already over. This way we don't have to speculate on which team came out on top.
We'll know.

Thanks in advance.

The only thing I know about Nycholat is that I picked him up for 10 games in my fantasy league a few years back, when he was with washington.

Sure, lets give him away for a player I have NEVER heard of, any will most likely never play with the nucks. What a joke.

what a stupid move for fatso nych whats his name. Shannon was gonna become a 20 goal scorer in the near future and the gave him up for a loser named lawrence nycholat.

Shannon wasn't going to get a chance with the big club this year anyway. Hopefully the Moose make a deep playoff run this year.

Not sure if it has been mentioned as I have not read the whole thread, but Nycholat is on a one way deal. He will have to clear waivers before being sent down

shannon has a better shot at making the sens than the canucks, i know it sounds weird because their offense is so much better than ours but as it sits they are relying on foligno as their 2nd line rw'er. in vancouver there was no way he would supplant any of sedin, demitra, bernier or raymond. and on the farm he would be taking taking ice time away from guys like grabner and hansen. sounds like a good move by gillis gives more ice time to the young guys and gives us defensive depth...something we sorely lacked last year.

More depth to a position that already appears to have quite a bit of it. My guess is that Gillis is looking at moving a d-man for a forward.

Or he wants to shore up the Moose, clear out space for his young forwards on the Moose, and he also understands that the Canucks' defense group is likely to have injuries again this season.

I was watching Goehring practicing with other pros who played for UND tonight and noticed he had the moose logo painted on his mask, when did Manitoba acquire him, and for whom/what?? I completely missed that one.

It was a couple months ago and I believe he was signed as a free agent. There's more info in the Manitoba Moose thread.
