I'm sure Radulov is simply heartbroken over this news.

What is the over/under for oil prices in order for the KHL to give up and Radulov returns to the NHL? I say it needs to go below $70.

Simply a formality so that the Predators keep his rights after/if he returns.

Except with Radulov it would be more like "Well, uh, ya know, sometime, ya know, you very, uh, **** you know, uh, J.P. Dumont, uh, ya know, he make good pass from corner, and uh, ya know, uh I just, uh, ya know, ****, I uh, put puck in goal and, uh, ya know, everyone scream and go home. Thanks guys." *nods*

The guy was an extraordinary talent... he just isn't very bright.

Note to DP: next time you're interested in a Russian, interview him first and see if he has his head on straight.

Well he took 6 million to play in his native country over 900K to play is the country music mecca of the world. Say what you want about him but it seems like an obvious choice to me.

Not honouring a contract is never an obvious choice. It's plain wrong, selfish and he should be fined heavily by the NHL. Personally it sickens me.

But that's just me. Maybe contracts don't mean anything anymore.

Well I'm sure your phone company will be glad to hear of your outstanding loyalty.

I'm not saying that he shouldn't be fined, but I think if it "sickens" you , you may be over reacting a tad.

If i had the choice of leaving my job for another job that will pay me 6 times what i am making now, I would investigate the possibilities. If there were no repercussions I would probably take the job that pays me more. It is the NHL's fault as much if not more than it is Radulov's fault.

It's not like that option leaves in 12 months and the kid is 22 years old making almost a million dollars.

To me it's about doing things the right way. You finish this contract then weigh your options. You don't leave your team management and teamates hanging like that.

It comes down to much more than money. I.E honour and good professional values. It seems the importance of these intangibles in today's "me myself and I" world is no more.

What he did is plain selfish.

Every one has an opinion, that is the beauty of these boards. I think he made an obvious choice. I would feel much different if he was a North American kid, but he is Russian and he is playing in his home country for more money.

Indeed. After all that's all everything is about in the end. Money.

Should Malkin be forced to play out the rest of his contract in Russia?

To be honest I don't know the details of that story but if he signed a contract and didn't honour it then absolutely imho.

Whether the initial contract is in the NHL or any other league is not relevant to my argument. A contract is supposed to be a legally binding agreement between two parties. In my opinion backtracking on an agreement is wrong. Simple as that.

Malkin's contract in Russia ended when he gave his 2 weeks notice as per Russian labor law.

You mean the one that he used perfectly legal means to break?
