Rangers that Should have Won a cup.

Whether you liked a particular player alot or thought that he gave so much to the team in years played or effort shown, what player(s) would you loved to have seen win a cup with the Rangers.

My two votes

Mike Gartner because he was such a great Ranger as well as my fav player. right at last minute he gets traded and misses out on a cup I feel he helped get the team to.

John Vanbiesbrouck - He was the face of the Rangers in the second half of the 80's. Another great Ranger who was traded before the cup year.

I would not change both trades but it was a shame these guys were not there.

I don't understand "Should've". Perhaps the title should be titled "Rangers I wish were part of a Stanley Cup team".

also, the C in "cup" should be capitalized to continue the trend of every other word having its first letter capitalized.

I wish Amonte could have won one with us, I remember seeing an interview a few years back & Amonte is still bitter that Keenan made Smith deal him.

I took Weight off the list because he got his with the Canes' a couple of years ago.

No, Beezer was still with the Flyers in 2000. The only reason I was disappointed that the Devils didn't win the Cup in 2001 is that Beezer would have gotten his name on the Cup. He was my first ever favorite Ranger.

In order, according to my opinion (you will quickly figure out how old I am). Pardon me if I misspell anyone's name:

James Patrick
John Vanbiesbrouck
Tomas Sandstrom
Jan Erixon
Mike Gartner
Kelly Kisio

Edit: I know I left out Park, Gresch, Ruotsalainen, etc. (yeah, and some forwards too) - as I said, this is based on my own personal history and those players I saw play.

Every Ranger from 1940-1993 and from 1995-2007.

Except Stephan Quintal.

Jackson...

why not extend to the Maloneys, JD, Hedberg, Vickers, Nilsson, Vadnais, Mudroch, Duguay, and other on the 78-79 team I'm missing.

I like SBoB's answer best...or at least got a real chuckle out of the exception.

And I'm real surprised noone said JD...

Jagr... man I would have loved for him to take us through the 05-06 season and plow throught the playoffs, win the Conn Smythe, and grab the Cup from Bettman, hand it to Straka...

Jagr kept saying how he wanted to be the 'Mario' that he experienced... the leader that brought a Cup to the youngsters. I would've loved to see him bring the Cup to NY.
