I thought the previous Buffalo poster did a fine job but I just want a midget line so, lol. My lines probably aren't the most probable (esp w/ cap etc...).

Thomas Vanek-Derek Roy-Drew Stafford
Daniel Paille-Tim Connolly-Jason Pominville (yes, Connolly sticks with the team!)
Tyler Ennis-Paul Byron-Nathan Gerbe
Marek Zagrapan-Clarke MacArthur-Patrick Kaleta

I don't know where to stick everyone- some players would want bigger roles (MacArthur) and some players who could very realistically be with the team, I don't know where to put (eg. Paul Gaustad) and other prospects have a chance at making the team eventually- (eg. Kennedy, Adam, even Jokinen)

I don't see us really having a true top pairing on defense. I'll go with-

Tallinder-Myers
Brennan-Sekera
Weber-Butler

Miller
Enroth/Backup

The Penguins have a lot of holes to fill in the upcoming years, but the nucleus is intact...

Caputi--Crosby--Moon
Pierro-Zabotel--Malkin--Veilleux
Talbot--Staal--Kennedy
Bissonnette--Jeffrey--Johnson

Orpik-Letang
Whitney-Goligoski
Strait-Grant

Fleury
Curry/Brown

I seriously doubt they'll go all homegrown, so expect several more UFA's in the next few seasons. And, a few upcoming draft picks have a chance at outplaying some of the guys already in the system.

And just like now, the team is extremely deep at center but weak on the wings.

I fully expect the leafs to sign Jay when he hits free agency. Also they are going to offer Sam Gagner an offer sheet

Nik Kulemin - Sam Gagner - Alex Steen
Jiri Tlusty - Matt Stajan - Jimmy Hayes
Dale Mitchell - Tyler Ruegsagger - Robbie Earl
Mark Bell - Dominic Moore - Ryan Hollweg

Jay Bouwmeester - Anton Stralman
Luke Schenn - Carlo Colaiacovo
Jeff Finger - Jay Harrison

Justin Pogge
Vesa Toskala

Tlusty // Antropov // Kulemin
Stefanovich // Grabovski // Steen
Ponikarovsky // Stajan // Hayes
Hollweg // Moore // D.Mitchell

Schenn // Stralman
Finger // Kaberle
Colaiacovo // Frogren

Pogge
Rollheiser

This ofcourse doesnt take into account the extra 10 mil in capspace we have, or that fact that we're going to stink for the next year or two and draft high.

I agree with you on defense and goaltending except for the last pairing....We don't really know what happens with Picard and Schubert.

Offense......Alfredsson won't be playing in 5 years. Or atleast for now, I'm making a line-up without him. Also, those guys on the second line either make it till then or don't.

Only issue is money- with this being 5 years in the future, the cheap contracts of Gagner, Cogliano, Eberle, Brule, O'Marra, Nash, Chorney and Petry will be over. I ultimately think we'll need to decide between one of Cogs or Gagner.

I hate to be a grouch, but its Mattias, not Matthias. Also if Vasyunov comes to NA he will definitely be in the top 6.

I like this lineup better.

I would go with:

Boyes - Berglund - Perron
Eller - Oshie - Backes
Palushaj - McCrae - Lemtyugov
Livingston - Porter - Peluso
ex: (King, Drazenovic)

Johnson - Cole
Pietrangelo - Junland
Wagner - Warsofsky (kid will be sick)
ex: (Fairchild, Berglund)

Bishop
Allen

* I don't see Zach Hamill ever being a 4th liner, but he can't play Wing so I just couldn't find anywhere to fit him in.

** Fingers crossed.

Ill give my Bs I dont see Sturm still being here

Milan Lucic-Patrice Bergeron-Phil Kessel

Not too many players currently in the NHL but i think these players will be very tough to play against and talented.

What, do you plan on running a chocolate factory or something?

Obviously there would be FA's sprinkled in, but that's a potential lineup including only guys drafted (or developed, in Laich's case) by the Caps and in the system now.
I really like this roster.

If Fehr doesnt pan out, I could see someone like Kugryshev on that 2nd line RW, move Gordon up to the 3rd and have someone like Desimone or Taylor on the 4th line

Yeah. Part of me thinks we won't be able to afford to keep both Laich and Semin, but we can hope, right?

Needless to say there are many, many options that are already in the organization.

Meh, I think Semin might take a paycut to stay with Ov. Laich, I am worried about though. I just hope if he does leave, someoen is ready to replace him, which by all accounts, Osala and co could be ready by then
