Thursday, September 11th, I believe. If you want prospect updates, check out the non-Hartford thread, as I've been posting some snippets from Prospect Park's coverage of CHL pre-season games.

Traverse City Tournament begins Saturday Sept 13th with a practice and a game for the Rangers, prospects only.

The Rangers will report on the 15th or 16th to start the main training camp but most have already started skating up in the Tarrytown training facility.

At least thats what i've ascertained from various sources.

As always, i'm looking forward to BB's (now BB+) awesome reports from each day of camp.

Looks like Max Kondratiev is getting another chance, from Zip:

The Rangers have posted their training camp roster, and it contains a surprise -- former Ranger Maxim Kondratiev, who became a Group VI free agent after his contract with the Ducks expired.

Check out that M. Brodeur goaltender in the Rangers training camp...

I'm actually happy to see Max K show up at training camp. Always thought there was an outside chance he could be something down the road.

Wow, Max is back.

That is a surprise. Whether he earns himself another shot remains to be seen, but if nothing else - this just shows the class of the Rangers organization.

Didnt turn out well with the Rangers and he get shipped to the Ducks, goes back to Russia... I guess hes kinda confused where he wants to be. Maybe hes grown up and figured out what he wants. Hey who knows, the kid had some talent and if can put it together could be a 6th or 7th guy or a Hartford project at the very least.

Why not, add another log to the competition bonfire.

67 guys going for 23 spots.

People named M. Brodeur shouldn't be allowed at our training camp

I don't think he's confused at all. He wants to play in the NHL. But wasn't willing to spend any more time in the AHL playing for a pittance compared to what he could get in Russia. If he doesn't secure the 7th spot out of camp, I'm wouldn't be surprised if he goes back.

Who is a lock for the team this year and how many spots is everyone really fighting for?

On offense, I know Gomez, Drury, Naslund, Dawes, Dubinsky, Zherdev and Callahan are clear locks. Thats 7 of the possible 12 on offense?

On defense,
Rosi, Staal, Redden and Girardi are clear locks leaving 2 spots on defense.

So we have 7 spots open this year for players to battle for? Also, What has it been in the past few years. I don't remember the roster being in question this much, this late in the off season. I'm excited to see who makes the team and how they perform this year. Our team is going to fight hard for each game this year, I can feel it.

dude Mara and Kalinen are locks.............the 7th is Pock or Kondratiev to me as they are older and will sit most of the time.....maybe Potter but he would be better in the AHL as a call up

So the D in Hartford looks like it will be barring a surprise

Potter, Sanguinetti
Kundratek,Deminisev
Fahey, Sauer
Pock/Kondratiev(whoever does'nt make the team)

The Forwards are set in my mind................they have 14 NHL contracts so unless someone just kills in camp they are in Hartford to start

i doubt kondratiev will go down to the AHL......its nhl or leave for him....denisov and fahey will also get long hard looks as they seem to be older as well and have good skills as well......

kondratiev, pock, denisov, fahey.....those should be the 4 to battle for a spot

so its down to Kondratiev, Fahey, and Pock. no way does Denisov become a 7th dman in the NHL when at best he's a #5 in the AHL.

denisov was playing top minutes last season in the AHL.....and he has played in the international tournaments....if anything he is one of the leaders right now...plus the fact that he is physical....something the entire team needs to do more of
