Terry passed away on July 23rd. I know many of you have talked to him over the years and will miss him. I just found out today, after not getting a response to a message I had sent a couple weeks ago. I became concerned and found out that his passing had already occurred. Apparently he collapsed at a grocery store.
I know many here will miss him.
I think this video is appropriate, as it was the reasoning behind his online handle.
Thanks for the heads up Randy. This is very sad news. Over the years I've spoke with Terry often. He was such a great guy. Our talks weren't strictly hockey related. We talked about our dogs, work, and just life in general.
Terry introduced me to this place. We started chatting online when we were both members of the old ESPN boards. I always enjoyed hearing from him....guess now I'll miss hearing from him.
I can't believe this...he was always one of my favorite posters, ever since the ESPN board days...maybe partly because he immediately "got" my user name. Obviously had a good sense of humor and seemed to be a nice guy, as much as you can tell over the internet. My condolences to his family and (real life and internet) friends.
Backin and I used to get into it something fierce over on the ESPN boards and then I followed TwineTickler over here and realized that he (Terry) had been posting on HF for some time as well. While I disagreed with some of his opinions on the B's, I always respected his passion for the team, and am saddened to hear that he passed away at such a young age. Even though I never had the pleasure of meeting him, I will miss our debates. Condolences to his family, RIP.
Such incredibly sad news. Backin was such a passionate Bruins fans and I always laughed (and shivered) when he'd post how cold it was in Winnipeg. I love that his obit mentions he was a fan of the B's. I remember when he posted something about being a foster parent--must have been a terrific person. My condolences to his family, friends and the people here who grew so close to him.
This sucks...I knew backin and Stick9 from way back ESPN days and was very happy to see them move to HF. He was a great guy with humor and hockey sense. He will be missed. My thoughts are with his family and friends.
despite our differences of opinion on joe thornton, terry was not only as classy and respectful as a man could be, but also well-informed when it came to his debate points. i also appreciated his sense of humor, as he had a knack for dropping in a witty joke at the perfect time. my condolences to his family - he'll be missed.
Terry and I had several exchanges over the years and I considered him a friend despite my not contributing as much lately to the boards. I have many PMs that we exchanged over time saved in my inbox here because they really gave me a sense of what a genuine and kind person he was. I'm happy I still have them.
That said, my heart sunk when I saw this news over two hours ago on the list of Latest Posts of HFs main page. I'm struggling with my desire to know more about what happened and my inability to express my condolences to his loved ones. I'm saddened by my inability to have said goodbye so those close to him must have been devastated.
So, with a heavy heart...
Terry, RIP and please know that you brought much more to this board than just your posts and knowledge. Definitely one of the good guys and this place won't be as special without you. My condolences to his family and friends and those close to him. Mike, you were probably the first one I thought of after his family... PM me if you want to talk about it.
The '08-'09 season definitely goes out to you, bud.
