whos going to be the goat?

With all the potential and expectations we have of our guys this year, and with such a young group of talent, not to mention Ryder is gone, who will be the disappointment
this season, whos going to take the heat from the montreal media?

Who else? Montreal media (French) has always had it out for Koivu, that will never change!

I have a feeling Latendresse didn't take his offseason training seriously so I think it will be him.

Kovalev will be an easy target this year - he had a great year last season and it will be difficult for him to duplicate.

Latendresse, Higgins and Koivu will definitely be on the receiving end of some baseless and mindless criticism.

Yup.

I read that he lost only 5 pounds and that he plans to get back to 230 pounds. It's very little when you compare it with how much weight Price lost.

don't know why you all are picking top players like Tanguay and Kovalev.

I can see why Lats gets picked on but I seriously believe he has addressed his issues this summer and will earn more respect this season. I still believe that either Dandeneault or Brisebois get most of the negative press, especially Dandeneault as he makes enough money to care about and he has no real position on the team other than spare part.

How about Lats turned some weight/baby fat to muscle and Price needed to get lighter to be more effective at goalie?

Lats need's size and weight, just not fat. Muscle weighs more than fat.

Koivu. It's always Koivu. It's absolutely inevitable.

If we lose a game where he has a penalty minute...dammit Koivu.

If he misses a pass...dammit Koivu.

If half the teams goes down in injury...dammit Koivu.

If someone's daughter drops out of school to be an exotic dancer...dammit Koivu.

Every player will be a goat at one point in the season.

One I can say with confidence is Carbonneau, I will blast him sometime.

My vote is for Tender. I like him, but if he doesn't step up this year, his career in Montreal might me in jeopardy.

I really hope he gets a good season! To shut down all negative idiots (oops I mean radio host - see also J-C )

I know but he needs speed too and it's very hard to be fast when you are 6' 2" 230 unless you have Kovalev's skating. Kovalev lost weight because he wants to be faster, I think Latendresse could cut down on some weight to add some speed and it should not affect his hitting because he's gonna hit his opponents with speed. The added speed would also mean more hits because he won't have to worry about hitting someone late.

I understand weight is important for power forwards but there are some like Iginla who don't need a lot of weight to be effective...

as much as i hate to admit it, your probably right. Koivu gets the most criticism of all habs. Mostly the french Press love to portray him as the goat. Not sure if i could have put up with it all, all this time. Hope the guy has thicker skin than I. I don't want Koivu to move on, he can be effective anywhere in the lineup. He will be one of those players that can contribute well in his last days in the league as a checking/offensive 3rd line Center.

In one of the old "Les Boys", the best player named his son Saku. In other words, he used to be "cool". Now it's just the hip thing to hate him, for no apparent reason.

Those who use the "don't speak French" excuse, fail to realize that he does what most of them ask for (bonjour, salut, merci, etc).

He lost 20 pounds this summer, so now he's at what? 210?

I think that's what McGuire? said by looking at Lats without actually asking him. The real number is 5 if I'm not wrong.
