I really hope Saku is able to accept a Modano-like role on the team in 2-3 years.

Chelios is 46 and hes still around.

How many 40 year olds put 9 points in 7 playoff games? Thats where we need him.

Bouillon...
Dandenault....
Kostopoulos...
Begin...
IMO , we should offer bouillon a 1 year, 1m contract.... keep him until komi is resigned / valetenko earns permanent call up.

How could we even afford not having Koivu back? It's not like we are drowning in offensive centers. Maxwell? Come on.

Planing to replace him with a UFA is a bad idea. We're going to overpay for a guy who will end up not being that better than Saku.

Kovalev: 6-5.5-5 = 3 years with a 5.5M$ cap hit

Koivu: 3.75-3.25 = 2 years with a 3.5M$ cap hit

Komisarek: 4-4-5-5-6-6 = 6 years with a 5M$ cap hit

Higgins: 2.5-3-3.5 = 3 years with a 3M$ cap hit

Plekanec: 3-3.5-4-4.5-5 = 5 years with a 4M$ cap hit

Tanguay: 5-5-5-5-5 = 5 years with a 5M$ cap hit

That's about it. Still, a lot of things could/will change this year. I would let the other spots for the young guns.

Again, while I think any "predictions" right now are nothing more than shots in the dark as so much will change over the course of the season, assuming everyone's production is similar to last year's, I feel that most people's numbers here are unrealistically low.

IMO:

Koivu - 2 years, $9.5M ($4.75M / year; same as now)
Kovalev - 2 years, $12M ($6M / year)
Higgins - 3 years, $10.5M ($3.5M / year)
Plekanec - 4 years, $19M ($4.75M / year)
Komisarek - 4 years, $20M ($5M / year)
Tanguay - 3 years, $16.5M ($5.5M / year)
Chipchura - 1 year, $750K (1 way)
Latendresse - 2 years, $3M

Bouillon, Dandenault, Begin, Kostopolous allowed to walk.

In the mid-season he looked like a vet of 50 years old.

He was ok, his linemates weren't great. Higgins was in a slump and rookie S. Kostytsin was looking lost at times. Replacing him back with Ryder didn't do much either.

I agree with your predictions. Although I think Kovalev will get less money than 6mil. ~5.5
