I'll be in Europe from January till July. Good to know I won't miss Koivu lifting the cup in June.

For those who tried it last year, is there any way to record the games?
Here in France, games usually start at 1am, and you can't always stay up till 4.

That'd have to be a pretty complex system, but I think you're allowed to have the game window open all day, so it might be possible.

And for those of you in the US, just use a proxy! Trick the internet into thinking you're in Canada.

I remember that I found a step by step way how to do that on the internet.
But i can not find it now.
Can you post a link or pm me the directions?

What program would you use? I'm using Hidownload, and I'm not sure I'll be able to use it with RDS.

Instructions on how to do it:

http://www.freeproxy.ru/en/free_proxy/howuse.htm

List of proxy servers:

http://www.publicproxyservers.com/
http://www.proxy4free.com/page1.html
http://www.samair.ru/proxy/proxy-02.htm

That should be enough.

EDIT: I just tried a random one from and it worked, so you should be fine.

I don't download streamed video, but from the program description it sounds like it should work. However, the file will be very large, unless you can set a timer.

The RDS window has an activex Windows Media Player window in it.

I've been living in Morocco for work, and I have tried every system under the sun. (I have a reliable high speed internet connection by the way.)

I never got the proxy thing to work well enough for me, it is such a pain that I quit after a while. There are no reliable, high speed proxies that are free. If there are, I'd love to find them. Those listed above by TomPlex are fine for occasional browsing of censored sites, etc. But won't work well for streaming unless you are a lot luckier than I have been the last 100 or so times.

This RDS thing is great news for sure, however, I will have to watch games while normal people sleep.

I have another system to watch games with excellent quality which works well for me. Interested people can PM me.

WHat is the other system? and is there a way to record games? I currently live in more or less rural Russia, so this is great news for me.

80$ is a great price considering i'm hesitating paying 50$ or so per month to get TV just to watch hockey.

For those that have watched the RDS offering last year, is it as good as TSN's broadcast of the WJC?

Yes from what I have seen virtually the same.
And because they will be doing it every game they will surely tweak it once in a while and make regular updates to improve it.

Hmmm...$80 eh.
That's between $10-$11.50 a month for 7-8 months of hockey depending on how far they go in the playoffs.
It would be cheaper for me to add RDS to my Rogers cable package for 8 months ($6.99 a month for the French package), so looks I'll be going down that road instead. And since I have a PVR, I can record any games that I can't watch live.

But I think this is a great offering for anyone who doesn't have a cheaper way to access RDS.

80$? Not bad. Since my mom is always watching TV, I cannot afford myself to pay more than 10$ per month to watch bits of hockey. At least with the internet package, my dad and I can watch the games on our respective computers (since I believe they keep track of the IP address). Good news!
