I've been living in Morocco for work, and I have tried every system under the sun. (I have a reliable high speed internet connection by the way.)
I never got the proxy thing to work well enough for me, it is such a pain that I quit after a while. There are no reliable, high speed proxies that are free. If there are, I'd love to find them. Those listed above by TomPlex are fine for occasional browsing of censored sites, etc. But won't work well for streaming unless you are a lot luckier than I have been the last 100 or so times.
This RDS thing is great news for sure, however, I will have to watch games while normal people sleep.
I have another system to watch games with excellent quality which works well for me. Interested people can PM me.
That's between $10-$11.50 a month for 7-8 months of hockey depending on how far they go in the playoffs.
It would be cheaper for me to add RDS to my Rogers cable package for 8 months ($6.99 a month for the French package), so looks I'll be going down that road instead. And since I have a PVR, I can record any games that I can't watch live.
But I think this is a great offering for anyone who doesn't have a cheaper way to access RDS.
80$? Not bad. Since my mom is always watching TV, I cannot afford myself to pay more than 10$ per month to watch bits of hockey. At least with the internet package, my dad and I can watch the games on our respective computers (since I believe they keep track of the IP address). Good news!
