08/09 Lineup thread - Do you reunite Lang with Kovalev

No this shouldn't go in the acquisition thread. This is a line-making thread.

Higgins - Lang - Kovalev

Tanguay - Koivu - Latendresse

Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kostitsyn

SEXY!

Edit: That's an impressive top 9.

No poll needed. The answer is obviously yes.

I'm not giving the people the choice to agree or not..

I came to your forum to ask this very question. But can you really justify breaking up Pleks and Kovy?

God I'm relieved to have Lang, I hope he doesn't become a Smolinsky #2 though... I have a good feeling, but I won't get my hopes up too high. Was getting sick of Sundin.

I would definatley try lang and kovy out. No doubt in my mind. But who would wing them, that I duno.

You knew that in Russian "Kov" means red? In french Red translsate to Rouge, so Kov à lèvre is realy funny, plus "Langue à Kov à Lèvres" makes it realy sexy.

Geez I would hate to break up the Kovy line but damn trying Lang with Kovy again is so tempting.

Carbo said he isn't breaking up the pleks line.

But if he does I'd love to see

AKos pleks Higgins

Considering Plekanec looked pretty good centering both Kostitsyn, I'd say yes.

Lots of things happen during a season.

To answer AD's question.

Yes! yes I do.

Tanguay-Lang-Kovalev
Skost-Plekanec-Akost
Higgins-Koivu-Latendresse

or

Higgins-Lang-Kovalev
Tanguay-Koivu-Akost
Latendresse-Plekanec-Skost

(why not )

Test them out in preseason.

I like the:

Kostitsyn-Plekanec-Kostitsyn
Tanguay(Kinda like Straka)-Lang-Kovalev
Higgins-Koivu-Latendresse

I wouldn't have a problem with it. Plekanec has good chemistry with Higgins that goes all the way back to the AHL. He's also shown good chemistry with both Kostitsyns. In fact, the Higgins - Plekanec - AKostitsyn line was great down the stretch in 2006.

Someone mentioned Straka. I think SKostitsyn could be the new Straka on a 2008 Kovalev and Lang line.

Anyway, there are so many possible combinations, as Marc said.

Here's how I see it:

Kovalev and Lang should play together
Plekanec and AK should play together
Koivu and Latendresse should play together
Tanguay should be on the top line

therefore,

AK - Plekanec - Tanguay
Kovalev - Lang - SK
Higgins - Koivu - Latendresse

No I wouldn't break up Pleks and Kovy... its been years since he played with Lang, and the rules have changed since that happened. They may not have the same chemistry they did before.

Jimmy - Pleks - Kovy
Tang - Captain K - FatBoy
Higgy - Robbie - Billy

Worth a try in the pre-season;

Higgins - Plekanec - Kostitsyn
S.Kostitsyn - Lang - Kovalev
Tanguay - Koivu - Latendresse
Kostopolous - Lapierre - Laraque

I wonder how good a Tanguay - Lang - Kovalev line would do.
