LOL Indeed they would be a really soft team to play against... maybe they are afraid to get too soft after they sign Selanne

Please stop, your proposals are terrible!

It's getting out of hand. You don't need to make 2 or 3 new threads every time you read an article in a paper.

I'd be really happy to get Neil, ducks like to skate tough grinders with the twins from time to time, and Neil has decent hands.

Neil is not that good. Schnieder is still a good defenseman.

why would ottawa do this??

if they considering neil a part of their core, why would they trade him for one year of schnieder who at this point is a good #4/5 dman

There's nothing wrong with that proposal. Maybe we have to throw in a 3rd, but it's in line.

Run the PP for a year. His point totals are just awesome - when he can avoid injury. On PP 1 for the Sens with Spezza, Heatley, Fisher and Alfredsson...he could do some real damage.

But don't the Ducks really need him? Their offense isn't legendary as it is, I would excpect guys like Marchant to be moved before Schneider.

I don't think Neil is part of the core. (I could be wrong.) Neil has a year left so you would have to re sign him if you wanted to keep him.

Trading Marchant doesn't move enough salary to sign Selanne.

Is the word in Anaheim that it's gonna be Schneider?

At least. Possibly Marchant as well, but Schneider at the very least. I guess a worst case scenario type of thing would mean Pronger being traded, but that's very, very, very unlikely.

I consider Neil gone anyways, but I'm not sure I'd do it for Schneider. IMO, Schneider could probably be acquired for a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

I don't understand why Ottawa fans keep assuming Neil is leaving. The media and so many fans keep *****ing about team toughness well Neil is consistently top 5 in both hitting and PIMs and he doesn't score enough to warrant an Avery type contract.

Would I keep Neil for $2,5M? I wouldn't blink. There just aren't that many players who can do what he does.

In any case, Ottawa doesn't have the cap room to acquire Schneider, our owner likes to have us $2-3M under it to start the season. Add to that the fact that there's no way Ottawa tries to help Anaheim in any way and I just don't see the makings of a deal between the two clubs.

Is there a player that fits the Ducks style of play more than Neil? I think what he brings to the game is very underrated on these boards. Ducks fans know exactly what a guy like Neil on a line with skilled players can do. IMO he would be a great guy to have play with Perry and Getz from time to time. Hell, Fedoruk did well with them before, I think Neil could open all kinds of ice. I would be willing to offer Matt as well as a mid level prospect/2nd

2 first rounders and Neil or Foligno says you want to give us Pronger.

Deal.

Now who wants Kuba for a mid-level pick? (I'm serious).

Im not sure how reputable this site is but just to add fuel to the fire here is a quote from ***********.

Schneider Was Almost A Sen
9/15/2008 Posted by Cjohnson202
According to a very credible source out of Ottawa, Anaheim was on the verge of trading Schneider to Ottawa in exchange for Chris Neil. The deal was in it's final stages when Bryan Murray backed out of the deal, which Brian Burke is apparently not happy about. Burke is hoping to be able to clear cap room ASAP so he can sign UFA Teeme Selanne. It is not yet known why Murray backed out of the deal.
